There seems to be quite a few other noises about at the minute with certain other roles in the club.

Clearly a new regime broom sweeping. Not sure how much anyone could do in 12 months with a global pandemic on.

Presumably they have their man in line and it will be interesting to see what the fresh set of eyes does.

My guess is that events on the field are very much going to shape events off it.

Absolutely stunned he ever got the job in the first place as were a lot of people (including directors at the football club). He'd no experience for the role, he'd previously worked in charities but I found him anything but personable more so when you've dealt, in the previous decade, with people like Paul Fletcher, Lee Hoos and Dave Baldwin, three with fantastic, if very different, personalities.

A few weeks ago I heard three names Murger of people whose jobs were less secure than anyone else's. Rigg's was one, one's gone this afternoon and I believe the third one has already left although nothing has been said.

Very interesting thanks Tony.

Do you think Rigg will be let go? And if so, will we replace him with a like for like or a different strategy?

You can hardly disagree with that comment , the last few years in the transfer window alone have been abysmal and if we survive this season we’ve pushed our luck to the absolute limits in my opinion

Wonder what the Hierachy thought when he said we would buy players in January.....or was he instructed to say that to take the heat off I wonder.

He lost me with his comment on the £15 ppv charge. He stated that he would pay it because he is a football fan! Totally missing the point of the pure greed by tv companies trying to rip fans off. @ least fans of most clubs boycotted this charge & gave to the local foodbanks instead, which inturn made the broadcasters see sense in scrapping it.

It certainly needs fresh ideas.

Particularly in player recruitment. Someone from Brentford with a detailed knowledge of the best players in the lower leagues would be good. Who knows next time we might not miss out on the next Toney.

They'll have their reasons but what realistically has he NOT done in the last 12 months that could have been expected given the circumstances??

Rigg however is a different story. There is absolutely no point in having a Technical Director to identify talent and recruit if the first team isn't part of that process. Whether it's for budget or competency reasons it's hard to make a case for him staying given the absymal windows we have had.

Not sure anyone knows more than you about Burnley, and your relationships with other CEOs are clearly an advantage?

On the downside it might mean you’d need to jack this in.

He's not a football fan, that's the problem. I said to someone at the time that he didn't understand football fans and the response I got was that he didn't understand football. While others, including managers like Bilic, Mourinho even and Bruce were condemning PPV he made that comment.

If Rigg is one on the hit list, I wonder what if any input Dyche has had. Was the good friends spiel when he joined all for the media, or was it genuine?

It certainly doesn’t appear to have been a partnership that has proven to be fruitful, unless a lot has gone on behind the scenes that hasn’t come to light.

Given that Dyche has just said the following about the summer transfer window, I doubt the new owners are prioritising player recruitment.

“We do some background planning of course, but that is not the first concern for the chairmen and the people who are involved”

I think the only Tony Scholes who would be in with a chance of that job is man I used to refer to as The Imposter who is currently at Stoke.

In truth I wouldn't know where to start with a CEO job, it's way beyond me. Relationship with other CEOs - I would challenge anyone not to get on well with such as Dave Edmondson and Paul Fletcher. Lee Hoos was difficult at first but he went up so much in my estimation when we had our final meeting with him because he brought us all Krispy Kreme Donuts. Seriously though, had my moments with Lee but generally got on well with him. Dave Baldwin was totally different, the best CEO we've had in my view in terms of supporter engagement. He was everything the Bradford City fans told me he would be.

But this job is not all about supporter engagement, and it's certainly not being able to get on with me and my tantrums. I just hope we get someone who is good for the club as I believe, in different ways, the four previous ones were.

I wouldn't worry too much. As I said on the ALK thread. There'd be restructuring including Barnfield and around the club. Hart still being here is the surprise for me. I expected him gone mid January. That said. As mentioned above. I'm surprised he ever got the job.
I think Ian Butterworth is on his way out as well.
There'll be some more casualties behind the scenes as they streamline, improve (or strive to) and sort the wheat from the chaff.

Initially, Rigg is going to be replaced by a yucca plant. We'll see if that can hold the fort until the end of the season.

New people come in and have different ideas, which means clearing out the people who don't fit their vision, I wouldn't be worried by this news at all. Hart was a yes man for Garlick. Hopefully Rigg is next to follow, I'd bet Butterworth's job will be in serious danger too. I've also never warmed to Daz Bentley, maybe it's just me though.

You need to just look at SD's record. He wins praise from all the media, pundits and other managers of what he has achieved with literally no money every day of the week
Then I would ask that you google for the press release issued by BFC and Mike Garlick when Rigg joined and how his appointment would revolutionise how we were going to attract the right players from all over the world. So who have we secured since Rigg's joined 3 years ago.. The list is quite small and the most notable names include Rodriguez (who may have joined anyway) and Brownhill. THen you look at our bench v Spurs and wonder why the club has tolerated this situation. Surprised its taken this long

There are a lot of ifs and buts in there.

If Rigg idetidied players, was it his fault that the didn’t get over the line.

If Rigg identified players, was it Dyche saying no to them?
We’ve certainly heard that negotiations were down to Garlick.

I’m not dissolving Rigg of blame here, I’m just sure there must be far more to it than him simply not identifying players or the right players.

Butterworth is International recruitment here, he's absolutely screwed. The rest of the recruitment team will probably be replaced by this data driven PC stuff to save on wages, we have a large debt to pay, costs have to be cut somewhere.

I’m certainly hoping it was to sign up some new investors post-transaction, not to catch up with family and friends.

Rigg's role has been made redundant by the club's refusal to strengthen the squad over recent Transfer Windows
