Not really.
He'd done very little at Chelsea, he has talent, but seemingly lacked the work ethic to go with it.
Hardly anyone said he wasn't good enough for us, but as per there are people on here who want to look superior over this.

Barkley scored 4 league goals at Chelsea, in 52 appearances...
Mainly used as a sub but there was no guarantee he'd be more productive elsewhere.
He's proven his doubters in the football world wrong at Villa and good on him.

I think I may want to revise my final line, he's taking a battering online for being lazy apparently today and offering not a lot.

Yeah I wasn't saying they were directly comparable right this minute - just that they were both over-rated. Welbeck was hugely over rated when he was at United.

Fair enough & thanks for clarifying & I agree with the similarities although not presently as I misunderstood.
