I had hoped we’d be in for a younger RB to be honest to compete with either Lowton or Bardsley.

Great news. That’s one position double covered.
By two guys well into their 30's
Nothing personal against either, but yet another example of the youth strategy so favoured by the manager

If we can get Brady tied down now, we will need little if nothing in terms of in comings this summer.
At least we are getting our business done early for once!

The real worry is that Dyche has already been made aware that there will be very few funds available in the summer so is having to stick with what he has got

Crikey! some of you lot are never happy are you, I too would like to get a younger right back, but if we have Lowton in this form and Bardsley as adequate cover then why spend on an area we don't need too, and as others have stated if retaining Bards allows us too strengthen in other positions such as centre-mid and right wing then I'm happy to trust the gaffer, and Bardsley has rarely let us down when called upon.

With all the sports science data they have now I’m sure they are happy with their fitness levels and will have taken advancing years into consideration.
30 is the new 25 in sports years.

I'll be surprised if Dwight goes this summer, he's had an average season at best, and I can't see any of the top clubs forking out top whack for him just yet, plus assuming Gibson & Tarks leave the building we shouldn't have to cash in on any of our other top stars this year anyway at least I hope not.

Please no, Brady is not the answer we need someone that can cross, has pace, can beat a man on either side and he can do none of these unfortunately.

Nothing against Bardsley, who has done a reasonable job for us.
But it doesn't send out any signals of hope that the new owners are putting any money into the first team, anytime soon.
From what I can work out, they didn't have enough of their own money to buy the club in the first place.
But happy with Bards signing up.

Can any of our current crop?
Who was the last one who could?
We've needed a Wade Elliott, well since Wade Elliott left.

Someone who isn't a walking sicknote would be a start TBH, and no Brady isn't the answer I totally agree, and I sincerely hope we don't offer him another extension, he's already stolen a living from BFC for the last 3 years, now I fully understand it's not his fault he's injury prone, but there comes a point when we have to cut our losses, and with Robbie we've reached such a point.

Yes fair point, but when did Bardsley last miss a game through injury, and if we're going to persist with a small squad we need players who will be available, and unfortunately Robbie Brady doesn't fit into that category does he, therefore we need to be cruel to be kind and let him go, and hopefully recruit somebody who will be able to contribute week in and week out.

Im only messing but to some being unhappy at the prospect of Bardsley getting an extension is no different to you not being thrilled at the prospect of extending Brady's contact.
I dont think either warrant the tagline of "some people are never happy"

I think it’s got to the point where we are hindering his progress rather than helping him.
I think he will move to Leicester in the summer. Under Rodgers he would excel, free flowing football where he isn’t expected to defend all game.
Been arguably our best player/outlet for nearly three seasons now and he’s only 21 there will be a lot of clubs after him.

He probably has some personal political views to share first on his Twitter account that is followed by 90% burnley fans.

This news just reads like there isn't much confidence in our recruitment team to sign the players we need to refresh the squad to me. Getting ready to be disappointed this summer.

Indeed. Things can change quickly in football and whilst I love the way Lowton has improved and appreciate Bardsley has been decent cover this isn't really a step in the right direction for the future and will likely mean a new right back if off the cards.
May be alright now, but a injury too Lowton and or a loss of form and we rely on even older cover. Ideally we need someone younger to compete with Lowton similar to how we had Taylor with Ward.
I certainly hope Lowton can keep it up. But we've all seen how poor he can be before this season and it wouldn't surprise me if his performances drop again.

Noone had a problem with Gray sharing his views on Twitter apart from when his views were homophobic. The homophobia was the problem not the use of Twitter

You can make a case every season for each individual out of contract player to stay. In isolation the contract extensions make sense.
At some point though the squad does need to start looking different. We’ve relied on the same players for 4 seasons now. The small turnover is virtually unheard of at this level. It’s worked so far, but it’s felt like we’ve really pushed our luck this season.

I think you are spot on. The revelation in his form has lead the club to accept there is no point in signing a decent RB, and Bards for Cup, and injury/loss of form cover, is the cheapest option
One thing about our Club-its all down to the cheapest option
Or the better value for money-doubt Bards is cheap in our real world and not the Premier League world where we find it very difficult to compete in the market
