Actually, Rovers were robbed tonight by poor refereeing. Brentford got a penalty when their forward stuck a leg into a defender's and threw himself down, and then Blackburn had two penalty appeals that were much stronger than the one that was given. Apart from that, nothing between the two teams.

Not ideal but at least the Geordies failed to win, and that's the important thing for us.

And if we can't finish above Newcastle then we'll deserve to go down, they are poor this year.

And that result means whatever happens at Goodison we'll still be 15th going into the international break, and we have 2 winnable games coming off that rest time. those could easily see us well clear of danger with a couple of decent results.

Bugger! That said the longer it went on I thought Newcastle were going to win.

Grealish makes Villa tick and they look like a relegation side without him

If you had to describe a one man team it would be Villa.

I thought it was a poor match tonight and I'd have been more than happy for it to finish 0-0. Then Villa score so why am I disappointed the equaliser came? As bfcjg says, Villa nothing like the side they are when Grealish is on the pitch.

Which must be a massive disappointment to their owners given the huge level of investment at Villa the past two seasons.

Smith is massively overrated.

Ollie Watkins was awful tonight and Mings got embarrassed by Joelinton.

Villa were vulnerable without Grealish so I'm relieved they didn't lose but the last gasp equaliser was not ideal.

They've spent an enormous amount since winning promotion

As we have an extra week off before the International break, we played next weekend's game against Leicester last week due to their FA Cup commitment, Newcastle, Brighton and Fulham all play again whilst we are busy recuperating

That's true however Brighton and Newcastle meet, so they can't both win.

And it's reasonable not to expect Fulham to get anything from City tomorrow, so even if they win against Leeds they still wouldn't climb above us before we play again, and that's if we don't take anything at Goodison, which is by no means a certainty with Everton's erratic home form.

Personally I'm happy for our squad to get some much needed R & R. It's been a hectic schedule and we've looked leggy in our last couple of games, so a good dose of downtime will do them all the world of good.

Don’t think this is right....Brighton have two games, Fulham have two games and Newcastle have another game before the international break.

Very positive night in my book. Newcastle drop 2 points against a very poor Villa outfit and Woevers lose again sadly for them they also lost Dack to a bad cruciate ligament injury In injury time ( according to Mowbray).

Could have been a lot worse last night. I have to say I thought Newcastle played and defended well, and some very good individual performances

Whoever joins Sheff Utd and WBA in the relegation, might possibly be the best footballing team to go down, and also with a relatively high points tally

Rashford yellow carded for a sliding tackle that players get sent off for every week in the EFL.
