If we are in a relegation battle then so are Southampton who are in free fall, hampered with a bad defence and key players out injured to add to their woes . Bad result for Newcastle , favourites to go down with West Brom and Sheff Utd in my book.

It’s the best possible result when you took 80/1 on Southampton being relegated the other week. Absolutely no need for us to worry about relegation as there hasn’t been any need all season tbh.

Southampton still better odds than we are to stay up.

Might have a sneaky one on that.

Yes Saints missing the brilliant Danny Ings.

Decent result for us really, Brighton are still 4 points behind us, and Southampton are sinking like a stone, and having watched Saints today they didn't look any great shakes, and we can definitely go to St Mary's and get 3 points on yesterday's display.

If I was a Newcastle fan I'd be worried, wins for Brighton and Fulham next week, and they'll find themselves in the bottom 3.

Surprised by some how liitle confidence they have in our manager and team after the last 3 matchs against top class sides. Going off form, we should crack on to reach 44 pts. Bha 41. Fulham 38. Southampton 37 and Newcastle 37.

Overall it’s been an excellent weekend for us. Bottom three all lost and we won. You’d have taken that on Friday night.

I beg to differ. I’m looking UP the table and this helps us immensely in moving up. Not bothered about those below us because we will finish on 43/44 points. I also don’t have this irrational hatred of Brighton that many on here have.
Same as you Houseboy. I have nice memories of Brighton, plus I like the Seagull badge. Makes me think it’s time we updated ours!

Hardly irrational if you see the comments about us that omit from their fans. I have never heard a tin pot club with more acidulous supporters, talk about entitled.

Still like others including yourself have mentioned for Burnley we need to be looking up at finishing position rather than getting disappointed that those below us don’t send down teams that are below us in every regard. Let them stay up, and we’ll be around next season for points.

Same here. I've been to Brighton two or three times and their fans have always been very friendly on the Concourse pre-match and on the transport to and from the ground. Also shared a railway carriage with a really good bunch of lads between Leeds and Peterborough, die hard Seagulls fans, who were full of admiration for our achievements, they were in their first season in the EPL at the time and on their way back from a defeat at Huddersfield.

This "hatred" is just a social media sh*tstorm created by a few keyboard warriors on either side.

Everyone has different experiences but this certainly is not the case. I've met one or two decent fans but there's still a massive contingent who think they deserve to be in the premier league and small teams like us don't.

Every time I've been there I've heard nonsense from their fans complaining about how much better they were than us and how they play football while we play crap. I've also seen various forms of aggression towards our fans, something that you usually only see at certain fixtures..

It's a mix of self entitlement that comes from newer fans that forget the days before they became Falmer FC.

Of course a lot of it comes from living near there. Just the same as the garbage Blackburn fans come out with to a lot of local Burnley fans if you live amongst them you're often exposed to the majority of idiots.

So yes every club has them, but I think many of their fans have a sense of self entitlement and vanity about them. I can only assume it's mainly those who used to support premier league teams after they lost their ground and reverted back to Falmer FC after the move.

Oh and don't get me started on how they afforded their stadium, training complex, wages and transfer fees. It's farfetched compared to how we've made a name for ourselves in the premier league. Seeing another club with a rich owner is only another negative to Burnley fans who've seen our recent rise without having any substantially rich benefactors. Imagine what we could have done with someone willing to put 350 million into our club.

So already you can see paralells between them and teams like Blackburn.. or ever other premier league team who are able to pump money into the club unfairly.

I can only assume that you don't live near Brighton otherwise I'd guess you'd feel the same as me. You can speak for yourself of course, but I think it's unfair that you incorrectly pass the blame on social media and keyboard warriors based only on your own experience with one or two fans when it's much more than that to other Burnley fans.

Agree. Brighton and those below are no concern at all.

It's best to look after things ourselves and not have to rely on other teams. That's why Saturday's result was so important.

Only 2pts behind Wolves with same number of games played. Leeds also on the radar. These are the clubs results we should be looking at, not those below.

Absolutely. Not feeling this fearfulness a lot seem to have. Weirdly many have not noticed that if we are in a relegation scrap (which we aren’t) then so are Southampton, Wolves and Leeds, and I bet not too many from Leeds and Wolves are worried. Southampton possibly because their form is shocking at the moment but even they will be fine if they can start to turn it round a bit (but not against us).
Sod caution, let’s see if we can make top half and let the bottom feeders fight it out amongst themselves.
