Can anyone recommend a roofer for a small leak on a chimney stack?
The guy I usually use is busy and can't fit me in at the moment.
Thanks in advance.

Good luck with that.
They're all busy.
If it's the chimney that's leaking rather than the lead flashing round it then a general builder or handyman will do.

I had a nightmare getting a roofer a few months back. Most said they were too busy to even come and have a look. Rapid roofing came in the end, think they're Nelson based. They were prompt and did a tidy enough job, wasn't a big job so that's all I can say really!

Thanks guys. Its only a small leak, probably getting underneath the flashing. I'll give Rapid a ring.

I'm in York and I'm struggling to find a roofer to replace a ridge tile. Since November I've contacted 5.... 3 have come to look...... 2 have quoted (one of which was £450).... 1 gave me a date to do the job but never showed up. They advertise all over FB saying they are a local family company...... no job too small etc etc..... making you feel guilty if you use a national company...... Meanwhile I'm laid in bed listening to the howling wind wondering if I'll lose all my tiles overnight.

450 quid??
10 for the new ridge tile. 5 for for a pre mixed bag of sand and cement. 5 minutes labour charge.
I know a company will need transport costs etc but that's a lot.

Chimneys are more hassle than they're worth.
I had mine took down when I've just had a re roof.
Re-pointing is 750 and needs doing every 15 years. Plus most leaks are around the chimney on a roof.

When I was struggling to find one I got the impression if it's a small job they aren't interested.

Thanks mate. I'm sorry, I should have said that we live in Burnley.
Looking forward to getting back to walking up Greengate Lane to Settle in a few weeks! Any news on the Maypole reopening?

Would recommend Rapid Roofing.
They've just done some work for me and came on a Sunday to do it.
I know they are very busy, but the bloke who is in charge (Michael) is a good bloke and will let you know if he can fit you in.

Thank you for all of your help and suggestions. Hopefully I'll have someone here Saturday afternoon to sort out the leak.
Up the Clarets to the rescue once again.

I had a new roof back in 2018 and asked for recommendations on here. I was given Peter Nadin who did a really good job although it was his son Danny who did the work. I don’t know how they are with doing smaller jobs but possibly worth a call.

Off topic, but a few weeks back there was an episode of Tipping Point where the contestants introduce themselves, and the tall blonde lady said "My name is Ellie and I'm a roofer". It was a rewind-and-watch-again-because-did-I-really-hear-that moment. When you do find a lady roofer, you (or at least I) would tend to assume it would be a substantially built lady. (I would actually tend to assume a male roofer would be substantially built as well, for that matter.)
