Leisure I agree entirely,it’s a risky strategy for a club that doesn’t sell out for over 80% of games.People have found alternatives over the last 12 months, the economy is at Rock bottom, people furloughed.

Bosscat,if I had been in direct debit I’d have just let it run and it would have automatically renewed.Unfirtunately as a gift the season before a family member paid my season ticket in full and cancelled my direct debit.i went into the club last April to set up a new direct debit but was told they were not setting up new direct debits due to the uncertainty, and at that moment in time I could not afford to pay £500 with my job also uncertain due to furlough.

If it wasn’t for the social factor I wouldn’t bother. Last year has made me realise how unimportant it is on the grand scheme of things. Instead of wanting it more apathy has set in.

I've renewed, however a few friends and family members are seriously considering picking their matches and just getting a refund such is the renewal fiasco plus the routine is out of their system.

When did they last go up in price ?
According to Swiss Ramble's accounts review, they were frozen for the 7th successive year last year. They're already, conservatively, 40% under valued.

What’s the impact going to be when the 6 big teams breakaway. 10% increase and no Man Utd, City or Liverpool to play. They will sell a lot less season tickets on the new news last night.

That’s true, so do I. However when we got promoted a lot of people I worked with bought season tickets so they could watch the big teams.

That is the early bird renewals - prices have actually crept up all along has have the individual matchday prices, I expect significant increases and price variability on these going forward

What do you think the split of those buying early bird vs normal time season tickets is?

Do you have any details of which prices have increased and when? When you say that you'expect significant increases and price variability on these going forward', do you feel that this will result in an increase in income to the club and, if so, any idea of figures?

I would imagine it is very high for the early bird - especially on the previously/currently? excellent Direct Debit scheme. I also expect that any price freezes going forward will be on the price that was last paid for the ticket. I would add that we should not be surprised if airline style pricing of individual match tickets becomes a feature - punters finding out they paid much more than the person they are sat next too is likely to be a regular event in my view.

Watching professional football becomes less appealing by the day. I’m really beginning to prefer Junior football more and more where there’s is no greed just enjoyment and entertainment.
This isn't a pop the price increase, because this was always going to be inevitable, but I'm not far behind you regarding junior football. I love watching our son and daughter play for their clubs/teams. Enjoyment, entertainment and usually a lot of honesty on display. Also, not too many pushy parents. Most realise is a hobby for their kids to enjoy, not a steppingstone to untold riches.

All supposition on my part - but based on what I have learnt from my research across the sports world

It is all about revenue maximisation, there will be individualised targeted pricing based on primary transaction data held by the club that will adapt as behaviour and transaction history grows - might seem great at first but all designed to get punters to part with more cash - offers will include vouchers at the concession stands in the ground and for the club shop, prices will creep up the more the individual takes up the offer - the less frequent the take up the greater the discount - for a while at least - there will be a lot of game theory being exploited in the technology

Obviously this season's (2020/21) renewal process wasn't a normal one (with the Early Bird period being extended and then abruptly ended without notice) but 9000 people renewed within the EB period. leaving 6000 who didn't,(for various reasons). But as you say, in a normal season I would expect that the vast majority of our 15000 ST holders would renew within the EB period. It will be really interesting and possibly worrying, to see just how many of the 6000 actually do now renew, especially if there is a price increase and a reduced DD payment option.

Worrying times!

As a user of a corporate I think of nothing worse than having to entertain clients in the JHL. The great unwashed are uncouth, smell and have very bad haircuts.
Far better in the Jimmy mac, nicer set of fans

The valuable seats are the centre blocks of the James Hargreaves Upper - it is why I talked about a refurbishment and 2nd tier on the Gym with a bridge across

Should have expanded. I’ve heard, third-hand, that prices are going up to almost double in the James Hargreaves corporate area which has angered some long standing fans in there. I was hoping someone could confirm.

Another reminder that the 23rd is the deadline for Phase 1 renewals. If you haven't done it by then, then you have to wait until Phase 2 opens and you may be subject to an increased price.
And concerningly with suggestions now that your seat might not be guaranteed despite previous guarantees having been offered.

Where has this suggestion come from? The club had stated that seats would be reserved for renewal in Phases 1 and 2 and only after then would they be made available if not renewed.

I'm sure I've read that those in Phase 2 will have the option of taking seats not renewed in Phase 1

Not seen that but I'll have a look (see below from the club info released on 16th April). But seems unlikely, as anyone who didn't renew in Phase 1 can still do so in the Phase 2 period but they will have to pay more if prices are increased.

If I dont renew my seat on or before by the 23rd May (the given deadline date for Phase 2), will I still be able to renew this same seat online after the date? The seat we reserved for you will be released on the 24th May if you choose not to renew in Phase 2. This means it will be available for another supporter to select when seats go on general sale.

EDIT
I've also found this but am not clear just what it means, so have asked the club for clarification.

However, if you are not eligible to purchase your season ticket until Phase 2 of the renewals, you will be able to select an alternative seat from the stadium which has not been reserved by a season ticket holder. Your original season ticket will automatically release when the stadium ‘cleardown’ is completed.

Just had confirmation from the club that all seats will be reserved until the end of the Phase 2 period.

Obviously a typo, but why is it so hard to get such simple things right?

Seen a few tweets from club hospitality staff that this is an area that is currently being refurbished and they have finally gotten rid of those awful wooden dividing screens, there is money being spent around the ground with a view to increasing revenues

Isn't that where "Brexit" watches from so he doesn't have to associate with the mere mortals of the JHL (I won't repeat what he said about them as it wasn't very nice) 🤔🤔🤔 perhaps he may enlighten us 😏

For all those you have emailed the Ticket Office and are awaiting a response. You will get a reply to your query but please be patient as they have about 1000 emails to get through, in addition to dealing with face to face customers. Answers to queries may possibly be found here -

The Club has compiled a detailed Frequently Asked Questions page, which should be the first port of call for all season ticket holders setting up accounts and renewing their tickets. Answers to the most common questions can be found in the link below.

The sheer volume of enquiries must surely show that they've managed to over complicate the trivial action of "buying a season ticket".

Hopefully they'll learn from it.

Thanks Leisure.

As regards my son's ticket, I think I understand what the problem is. As U-10 tickets are free, they were obviously not part of the direct debit scheme and do not, therefore, auto-renew (although I've never understood why it couldn't be "tagged" to my ticket). In previous seasons I have always had to phone the club to manually renew his ticket. Things being how they were this time last year, I never bothered last season, so presumably he's no longer registered as a season ticket holder. I'll contact the club this week to find out what I need to do - presmably his old seat next to mine will still be avaialable. (It also begs the question how can this happen, given that I'm not supposed to hold a JMU ticket without a child's ticket attached!)
I forwarded your issue on to the Supporters Liaison Officer and she's asked that you email her with your membership numbers and names and she'll try to sort it for you. slo@burnleyfc.com

I received an email this evening too.

In the subject field it says: '2021/2022 Season Ticket Deadline This Week'.

As you say in the main body of the email it says the deadline is Friday 29 April.

Two things. First, 29 April is next week, not this week. Second, 29 April is a Thursday, not Friday.

Like you also say, it's the most basic stuff.

Looking back it is this week - Friday 23 April. Shambolic communication unless I'm missing something.

The sheer volume of enquiries must surely show that they've managed to over complicate the trivial action of "buying a season ticket".

Hopefully they'll learn from it.
Don't, for goodness sake, hold your breath. :o

How come I knew I had to add them again?
I have a feeling it was around either the refund time, or when there was a chance of fans getting back into games

Edit...... Now found link

Is that a fact?

Well it's certainly a fact that all F and F accounts were wiped clean without any pre-notificatiin from the club and it was weeks after that fans were informed.

I’m still waiting for reply to my email.
I have paid for this years season ticket by direct debit.
I have tried to sign on as directed to buy another season ticket but I have been rejected each time by the system. Please tell me I am not alone.
This is not the way to treat loyal fans!

It's like flogging a dead horse at times... The fans were informed when it was relevant, not everybody had 140 on their list so they are not as upset about it as you . Had fans done what they were asked to do in December, some of the current problems could have been avoided

Not sure why you can't get onto the system but if the person you are trying to buy another season ticket for isn't either an existing or lapsed ST holder, then you won't be able to purchase another ticket until Phase 3.
