I am not the vendor and have no idea who he/she is.

We played for the Keighley cup on the turf in the 5th of secondary school.

Keighley Cup was played end of 4th year.

Yes the hospital cup was for the amateur league clubs
I played for Colne Legion and won the cup on the turf

One magnificent trophy too

I remember watching hospital cup games on Fulledge rec. played on cinder pitches and attracted big crowds. Must have been early / mid fifties because I was only young They still slid into fierce tackles despite the cinders

I have exactly the same memories FC Burnley except I used to watch the Hospital cup matches on Whittlefield rec on the cinders.
The goalkeepers always had bandaged knees to try and prevent cinder rash.

Remember both competitions in late 1940's and early 1950's. The Keighley Cup was played between Rosegrove, Abel Street (Barden), St Mary's and Towneley. Could be wrong but don't remember the Grammar School playing. The final was on Turf Moor usually in April or May.
The Hospital Cup. was played on Recreations grounds, the two already mentioned plus Hargher Clough and Rakehead. Always attracted a sizeable crowd. Plenty of spots of blood on players arms and legs.

My dad used to tell me about the games being played on Fulledge Rec on the cinders but I can't remember that.

Spots of blood? Don't know about the other recs, but Fulledge 'cinders' were mainly hard, sharp clinkers and most of the players finished the games with knees and elbows shredded and the old leather balls were only fit to be chucked away.
Living only about fifty yards away I watched loads of 'em as a little lad and as you say, there was a quite a big, and vocal crowd for every match.

The Hospital Cup is important in football history as it's the oldest cup tournment in the world and as someone mentioned, it's a magnificent trophy.

Played in the bolton hospital cup final at the old burden park and yours truly scored an og, only to play on gigg lane the following sunday in a cup final, you've guessed it scored another og!! Still have nightmares 35 years later

Not sure I played in the Keighley cup , but remember playing in the Dorian cup .

And this is why it’s called the Keighley cup

‘In 1923 the Chairman of the Burnley Education Committee, Elijah Keighley, introduced a cup competition for the town's elementary schools. The first final on April 3rd 1923 saw Stoneyholme beat St Mary Magdalene's 2-1 at Turf Moor, the traditional venue for this competition, The Keighley Cup, to the present day.’

Both my dad and uncle played for Albion Rovers, I think that they were widely regarded as one of the best amateur sides around. They both had an incredible amount of medals, and that was in the days when you didn’t get a medal for finishing second in twenty fifty division of a five aside league.

Hartley Cup was for junior schools - we were beaten in the final by St Augustines. 1962 ish.
