Re: SD & Pace
Me too.
I do think that provided salary and the like are comparable, the big enticement for SD to stay at Turf Moor rather than move on to Newcastle, Palace (perhaps Fulham?) or the like, is that he still appears to be 'The Boss' with regard to the football side of things at Burnley.

SD is good, but he’ll never surpass Hale...

Re: SD & Pace
SD may remain, quite rightly, in full charge of the footballing side
But Mr Pace will have full control of finances (however big or small)
Will be interesting to hear if at least this summer Dyche gets to know if he has a budget to work to

Re: SD & Pace
I haven’t seen all his interviews but did Pace ever pass comment on why all the pledges of transfer window support and being active in it didn’t happen.

He said Dyche would be happy - and he has certainly seemed happy enough
Will that be the same after the summer - not so sure

Re: SD & Pace
I think we are going to have to get used to being seen as a very different Burnley Football Club. We know SD will only stay if he sees a modernising innovating team coming in... I am expecting a lot of modernising in all areas of the club, I am also expecting SD will buy into the plan as a whole concept and not just that they have made him football guarantees. I’m sure there will be plenty that I don’t like as well as those that I do.
I suspect they sat down with SD regarding the January window and it was jointly agreed we could hang fire until the dust settled at the end of the season when pieces fall into place.

We put good offers in for players but couldn’t agree deals. We tried very hard to strengthen in January.elwaclaret wrote: ↑Sat Apr 03, 2021 8:01 pmI suspect they sat down with SD regarding the January window and it was jointly agreed we could hang fire until the dust settled at the end of the season when pieces fall into place.
Re: SD & Pace
He's tried it a few times most notably Aaron Lennon, however it has never quite worked as their tracking back is poor.

Re: SD & Pace
Certainly Pace needs Dyche more than the other way round . I’ll reserve judgement on these so called ‘exciting times ahead’
Re: SD & Pace
Agents are ******** is what I think Pace took from January.

Fair enough, you would know better than me about that Tony. I just never got the feelings we were anywhere near and usually there is at least a few sniffs doing the rounds.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Apr 03, 2021 8:07 pmWe put good offers in for players but couldn’t agree deals. Re: SD & Pace
There was an interview with dyche where he said words to the effect that we'd put cheeky bids in for a couple of players, but never got close to an acceptable feeelwaclaret wrote: ↑Sat Apr 03, 2021 8:12 pmFair enough, you would know better than me about that Tony. Yes remember that Grumps... but for me, you always put in a couple of cheeky ones. Some times it lands Cantona most often it doesn’t... but that is different than actively pursuing targets.

Re: SD & Pace
I do find it interesting that the previous owners got slated for lack of business in transfer windows, yet our first transfer window in what 6+ years without signing player and people arnt concerned. Let’s see what happens with Pace and Dyche, I think people need to prepare themselves for a Rocky few months. This summer is arguably one of the most important windows of Dyches tenure. They either invest (and I would suggest rather heavily) or Dyche walksClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Apr 03, 2021 8:07 pmWe put good offers in for players but couldn’t agree deals. I remain totally convinced that Dyche would have gone last summer had there been any vacancies.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 03, 2021 9:32 pmI do find it interesting that the previous owners got slated for lack of business in transfer windows, yet our first transfer window in what 6+ years without signing player and people arnt concerned. Re: SD & Pace
Tony he looks to be relatively happy right now. I am assuming if the new owners invest there’s a good chance he will stay? Or are you under the impression if an offer comes along he is off?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Apr 03, 2021 9:39 pmI remain totally convinced that Dyche would have gone last summer had there been any vacancies.
Must admit I can’t imagine he will be particularly happy with having to sell his best players just to sign new ones.

I really don’t know what the situation is like now but I know how bad it was previously.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 03, 2021 9:42 pmTony he looks to be relatively happy right now. I'm sure there's been a lot of discussion/planning for the summer. Let's hope it's a good one, we seriously need some younger players ASAP.

Re: SD & Pace
My only concern is that regardless of the healthy relationship and the way they both intend to move the Club forward we get another Club in the summer wanting permission to speak with Dyche, if that happens and I've a gut feeling it will then he'll be gone. I really hope I'm wrong.
Re: SD & Pace
Last transfer window was very difficult for all clubs. The whole situation in football was unusual to say the least. AP did say in an interview that it was the Agents that were the biggest problem

Re: SD & Pace
To be fair Gt agents aren’t going anywhere. We need to accept that and start moving with the times.
Re: SD & Pace
It'll be a very limited number of clubs in the Prem, if that, and he certainly won't go to any Championship club as that would look stupid on his part.beddie wrote: ↑Sun Apr 04, 2021 8:11 amMy only concern is that regardless of the healthy relationship and the way they both intend to move the Club forward we get another Club in the summer wanting permission to speak with Dyche, if that happens and I've a gut feeling it will then he'll be gone. Re: SD & Pace
As long as we have a forward thinking manager (waiting in the wings) willing to play better football and we get compensation for Dyche I dont think that would be a bad thing, careful wht you wish for i guess.beddie wrote: ↑Sun Apr 04, 2021 8:11 amMy only concern is that regardless of the healthy relationship and the way they both intend to move the Club forward we get another Club in the summer wanting permission to speak with Dyche, if that happens and I've a gut feeling it will then he'll be gone.
