If the new owners need anymore evidence of the need to invest it's this team sheet.

Pope will be a huge miss, but I reckon BPF will step up just fine.

Not a bad team still but I agree the bench is poor...

MATCH FACTS
Head-to-head

Only one of the nine Premier League meetings has ended in an away victory - Newcastle's 2-1 win at Turf Moor in November 2018.

Burnley could win back-to-back top-flight home games against the Magpies for the first time since 1968.

Burnley:

Burnley could set an outright Premier League record of six consecutive home draws.

They have only won one of their past seven league matches, drawing four and losing two.

The Clarets have failed to score a second-half goal in any of their six most recent league games.

No side has managed fewer sequences of 10 or more passes in the Premier League this season than Burnley's total of 123.

Chris Wood could score in four consecutive Premier League appearances for Burnley for only the second time.

Jay Rodriguez is one short of 100 career league goals.

Newcastle United

Newcastle are on a seven-match winless Premier League run, drawing four and losing three.

Only Sheffield United have lost more away league games than Newcastle's nine this season.

Newcastle's tally of 10 points in 2021 is a joint league-low with Southampton.

The Magpies have failed to score in seven of their past nine Premier League away matches.

Steve Bruce has lost all three of his Premier League away fixtures as a manager against Burnley.

Dwight Gayle is one short of 100 league appearances for Newcastle.

So todays game i am looking forward to but i must say i am really relaxed for once which is very much not like me . I just have this feeling that we will wrap this one up very early and coast our way to victory .

Missing Pope and a decent forward option off the bench doesn't fill me with confidence.

I don't think they are under any illusions tbh and if they ever were I expect SD has cleared them up!!! We simply HAVE to survive this season and then see exactly what they intend to do about it.
PS. I'm absolutely devastated to find Pope is out! :o

How many goals has that decent forward option scored after coming off the bench this season ?

So are you happy with the forward options on the bench being Richardson & Mumbongo?

Difficult game ahead but the way things were looking at the start of this season the situation we are in now would have been welcomed.

Not good about Pope. Thankfully the FACT that we can’t be relegated (according to some), eases this blow a little.

That as maybe but if we need to replace one of the two up front for whatever reason he's a natural forward and that's a big, big loss. We don't have that option now on the bench. I really hope we wouldn't have needed him.

Got to admit looking at our bench that was a silly comment

Just having a dig at Rodriguez though who can do no wrong with sum on here because he is Burnley born.

He has been poor this season and looks like his best years are way past him

Newcastle supporters will be more ****** off with their starting lineup than us. Wilson, willock, St maximim, carrol on the bench, but Bruce let's shelvey gayle and Joe start.

Dwight must be licking his lips too with the decision to keep manquillo on the bench so no real right back. Pieters will be busy, probably not bpf.
