Not being critical just saddens me that a virus that didn’t exist 18 months ago could impact so much on people’s lives and put them in a position where they may never realistically feel safe enough to venture out again.

Not really a pub dweller, apart from pre and post match time.

My guess is that it could take a while to get back to some form of "normal".

Heaven forbid that there could be another wave, followed by another lockdown

Sounds like a Hovis advert but I walked 17 miles yesterday from my home to The Nethergate Brewery, Long Melford to spend a very pleasant 3 hours supping their excellent Venture and Stour Valley beers. Contrived to put one down at the Cockhorse in beautiful Lavenham en route also. Managed to persuade Mrs EAC to come and scrape me up in the evening. Lovely day!

The usual experience from what we once knew will take some time to re-emerge I think, it’s been mitigated that much with the track & trace & table service & restricted numbers in the gents ect it’s unlikely to lead to that as a sole contributory factor, the haunts I’ve visited it’s a tight ship other places will vary I guess in terms of operational precision.

A growing number of people think Covids been exaggerated from the start & don’t really give a s**t about anything to do with the rules, from day 1 some people have never believed in it & it’s unlikely they will suddenly start to now.

True, but what I will say as a closing comment because I feel the thread is straying away from the pubs & into covid territory, lots of these people were dying anyway with other multiple health problems & suffering, there’s never a good time to die or a good way of dying, but in a weird perverse kind of way Covid in some cases as stopped the suffering being prolonged for some people.

Pre Lockdown it was good Hendrickxz (well we think so) perhaps not "Gourmet Nouvelle Quisine" just good old fashioned Pub grub ... so cannot imagine it will have changed too much

If the alternative is severe pain dependent on morphine for the rest of your life then yes, some people want to die but aren’t allowed to in the UK legally hence going to Switzerland. Some People don’t want to suffer for years in pain.

I think people under estimate how good a visit to a pub is. I had my first beer since Christmas on Monday after work. Few friends and my jaw was aching after we finished I was laughing that much.

Feels and I realised that void has been there for the last 6 month even though you don’t think you have missed it. Just going out and having a laugh with friends again makes such a difference to the enjoyment of life.

My mentality in life is we can all be alive but without living life becomes monotonous and pointless

People kid themselves sometimes because the look to much at the financial side of everything rather than the value of the enjoyment they are having and that’s not pubs it’s everything

I agree with you, everyone’s different though and I get the impression that a lot on here don’t have that sort of friend circle or lifestyle. That’s not a dig by the way, half of my mates aren’t pub goers either but the other half are, the pub is a huge part of their social life.
