Must say, I'm a bit baffled.

Re: BPF
He was left badly exposed against Leeds. Made him look a bit more culpable than he was. Just my opinion.
He's not injured so, think SD ought to stick with him.
But guess we don't know all the ins and outs.
I just find it an odd decision.

Whether Pope goes or not, I’m pretty confident we will be signing a keeper this summer.

What train of thought says we are playing the reigning champions, how about sticking the third choice keeper in goal. You know, the one who has played 1 min of PL football previously

Re: BPF
Norris nowhere near the level of BPF who in turn is nowhere near Pope.
Feel for Leicester fans - seems daft at 3-0 but better keeping and a better finish from Wood we win that game.

BPF let 4 in. Norris only 3.
Neither look good enough.

we've let in 3 and 4 goals regularly this season, nevermind who's in goal.

Re: BPF
I agree entirely. On this evidence I hope we have a goalkeeper on our shopping list as a long term injury for Pope could be fatal.

Not really.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Wed May 19, 2021 10:14 pmAll depends on the dialogue and how the situation is managed.
BPF has waited ages for a chance. Originally (I think) he was 3rd choice. 1 game, then out. 2 games, then Pope back. Now, 1 game, then dropped.
I don’t actually have a major problem with it but it’s obvious Norris is the goalkeeping Kevin Long, nowhere near good enough. He did OK, but the quality gap was there. Simply no reason to bench BPF who has some potential and is younger.

Like I said, it all depends how it's been handled. We don't know what goes on at the club.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Wed May 19, 2021 10:21 pmNot really.

Perhaps Norris was always earmarked for this game.
Pope will probably play against Sheff Utd.

I thought Norris was very poor tonight. Maybe a bit nervous with the first premier league start but didn’t look at all confident and his attempt at stopping the first goal was awful.

Re: BPF
With the first goal he looked like an outfield player going in goal. Must have been so disheartening for the defence to see. You can see why every PL club has a top notch No2 keeper, to such an extent that there is often not a huge amount to choose from them in terms of ability.Cirrus_Minor wrote: ↑Wed May 19, 2021 11:24 pmI thought Norris was very poor tonight. Re: BPF
Plenty of difference in some sides, it’s like night & day here, the bugbear being if you don’t play the keepers competitively they’ll never improve, last night BPF should have played with the message - look lad you f**ked up against Leeds & should have done better, go & have a do & prove them wrong lad, confidence comes with positivity.warksclaret wrote: ↑Thu May 20, 2021 3:17 pmWith the first goal he looked like an outfield player going in goal. Re: BPF
Guy at work used to play with Norris at Hatfield town and Royston. He was shocked to say the least to see him start last night as he was nothing more than a half decent keeper in what must be a side in the 8th or 9th tier of English football. He looked less than half decent last night...

The train of thought that we are safe. The rookie who has been playing hasn’t been good enough. And good management to take the pressure and attention away from him.Herts Clarets wrote: ↑Wed May 19, 2021 9:38 pmWhat train of thought says we are playing the reigning champions, how about sticking the third choice keeper in goal. Re: BPF
So no consideration of playing the more experienced keeper to try to get something from the game and boost our finishing position and therefore prize money?

Re: BPF
I'm not looking for an argument (there are enough people doing that already) but I would genuinely like to read opinions on what exactly Norris did wrong or what he should have done for each goal.
I ask because there ARE people on here who know far more than me about goalkeeping.

I think Heaton and Pope are pretty good examples of what Mercer has done?
Identified and Signed from 2 relegated teams in the championship and both represented/ing England.

Re: BPF
i have no doubt that he is a very good coach, but he can only work with what he is given.
I commented on this last night but I don't think it went down too well.
the only people, as far as I know, who are making BM out to be a miracle worker are posters on this MB.
Re: BPF
You always seem to be very quick to criticise people, whether its Burnley FC staff or posters on this website.
Occasionally it might be justified but most of the time it isn't.
