If Spurs needed a win in the Carabao Cup Final this weekend to guarantee European football he would still be in place, but the Final result is now irrelevant as Spurs are guaranteed to be in Europe whatever.

Very strange timing ahead of a cup final.

Spurs are now the only club he’s never won anything at. Not that that matters at Spurs.

Few rumours it’s linked to the Super League idea.

Quite convenient for Mourinho to be honest, he’s had his time now.

I seem to recall Burnley sacking the manager on the same day as a Quarter Final game in the Milk Cup at White Hart Lane.

That decision turned out OK on the night

Supposedly refused to take training because of the breakaway plans for the european new super league. Stopped players training and then was quickly sacked. Hopefully more take a stand for what is right

If Dyche leaves this summer would Mourinho be a fit for us assuming he would want to come, let's face it we are used to defensive football and grinding out results.
As an elite manager he is a busted flush.

There is absolutely no way one of the games greatest ever managers, who still has a lot to give would even consider such a move.

With the paupers budget our new 'Owners' would provide?
I'd like to see him give it a go!

On a serious note, can't see many more high profile clubs giving him a punt any more.
Perhaps a wannabe club or, the recently revived biggest-club-in-the-world Leeds, if that job becomes open.

There is a story doing the rounds that he refused to allow Tottenham's playing squad into the training ground as a protest against the club signing up to the Super League.

Does anyone seriously believe that Jose Mourinho of all people has suddenly found a sense of morality?

He's been sacked because the results haven't been good enough.

The FA Cup and the Carabao Cup will be greatly devalued if they are no longer considered a pathway to European Competition.

Sadly they've been devalued for a long time now, that said I've no doubt any Tottenham fan would bite your hand off for any trophy right now.

You can argue whether Spurs league form since Christmas has been good enough, however they could be lifting silverware in 6 days time, and that's what he was hired for, Oh yea I forgot trophies are meaningless in this day and age aren't they, it's all about the bank balances isn't it.

Behind his media persona Mourinho is a top bloke and a real football man.

It's no surprise that a man of his character has taken a stand against these proposals and for this he should be applauded by true soccer fans one and all.

If true I totally agree, and it is curious he was potted just hours after the ESL announcement isn't it, especially with Spurs playing a major cup final this weekend, you'd have thought they'd have at least waited until the end of the season before acting.

TBF to Jose I don't always agree with his tactics or demeanour, but he is one of the few top managers who takes every competition seriously, and that's why he rarely plays a shadow side in the cups, unlike many others, yes you Mr Klopp.

He's gone up enormously in my estimation as I really didn't like him tbh, but fair play to him taking a stand over this.

Sacked implies that he’s breached the terms of his contract of employment. To sack someone you have to reach certain thresholds over a period of time. Gross Misconduct is the only way to support instant dismissal.

Left by mutual consent, clauses in the contact are actioned to provide both parties with a get out.

Resigned, leaves contract knowingly forfeiting the terms of that contract

Jose knows management, as he knows football. He knew he was on his way in summer. Saw an opportunity to fall upon his sword, took it.

He has been sacked twice by Chelsea, once by Man Utd and once by Spurs in this country alone and you don't think he has been paid up each time :D

Telegraph today reckons he's had £75-£80 million in pay-offs:

Chelsea first time £18 million
Real Madrid £17 million
Chelsea again £12.5 million
Man U £15 million
Spurs £15-£20 million

Left the Portuguese clubs and Inter without any compo.

I doubt he's the type to have invested badly, must be worth a fortune given he's well paid in addition to these "extra"s.

or

Portugal job after the Euros
