I still think he will wait to see what sort of funds are available to him before he puts pen to paper. It's been a horrible year all round but if he manages to keep Premier League football at Turf Moor for another season then that will surely rank at least alongside his achievement in 2016 of getting us back up as champions. He cannot be expected to replicate this season again. He needs more players available to him that he can rely on at least fitness wise. Next season will be harder still and he deserves every chance to keep us amongst the elite.

As we prepare to go into a government football review and after a week when Billionaire club owners failed in an attempt to sperate the the wealth of the game into their own pockets, without much care for the rest and fans appear united in their revulsion, it has been hugely revealing to see that many fans are still demanding there owners spend monies their club does not have:

- Arsenal fans rejoice at the fact that a billionaire wants to buy the club from the billionaire owner they currently have in the belief they will be have more to spend and the "natural order" of their superiority will return.
- The Spanish giants are in varying states of financial distress caused by poor management and the endless demands of their members (a supposed ideal model) to constantly win trophies and sign what are perceived to be the star players de jour, so argue the Super League is necessary to meet those demands.
- Newcastle fans rage against their billionaire owner for running a tight financial ship and would prefer a nation state of questionable practises (there are very few nation states that do not have questionable practices) have the chance to splurge their large on the club for reasons that have nothing to do with sporting intent.
- For some time Kieran Maguire who spends large arguing against the the financial mismanagement. has argued that for most fans the ideal owner for the majority of fans is a a billionaire benevolent dictator

All that is a significant contributory factor to what is creating the financial problems in the game. In an interview yesterday UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin talked about giving fans a voice with UEFA - days after ignoring their pleas regarding the reformed Champions League, while acknowledging that fans are not united and there are significant groups that want polar different things. This is the divide that is killing the game the hunger for success, the need to move to the "next step" the refusal to accept that financial stability is essential and that progress tends to be cyclical.

Actually enjoyed watching that match which have been few and far between lately. Pulled it out the bag again has Mr Dyche and can’t wait to hopefully see matches live next season. Other teams supporters say what they want about him but he knows his stuff.

I don't want to criticise any Burnley fan after such a brilliant performance today (and we have stayed up again!!!) but this is why "we" back Dyche even when times get a little bit tough. This man has delivered for, almost, 9 years. His achievements with us are absolutely unbelievable and, this season, he has probably won his biggest battle by keeping us in the PL. An horrendous season with no fans and such a small squad and he still motivates these players to fight for everything. Please, please just trust the guy. He is an absolute gem who we need to keep at this club for as long as possible. He knows Burnley and we know him - how many clubs would love to say that?

It's over to Mr Pace now to help the best manager we have ever had (ok, I know I'm only 47) to build a squad which may be able to not have to worry about relegation but look upwards in the table. It's up to us, as fans, to get behind him and these players so they know what it means to be successful for Burnley.

Finally, I want today to dispel the silly rumour Dyche can't get us to play some fantastic football. We battered Wolves today. Yes, they were awful, but we played some great stuff and Wolves will be grateful for only conceding 4.

Anyway, I'm off to get (even more) drunk knowing this manager and team have done us bloody proud yet again.

You have achieved much, made good players into really good players. Made a team greater than the sum of its individual parts. Showed humility in defeat and rarely griped publicly.

There isn’t a suggestion here that we should be running up big debts or expecting way more than we can afford.

We are crying out for sensible investment in the team to give us the best chance of staying in the Premier League over the next few seasons (and hopefully beyond that) and the money that brings in.

The comparison in this instance to billionaire owners and unreasonable expectations doesn’t seem to stack up to this thread.

Not that I expect them to throw money at it. Obviously some is needed

But more that we need both to compete and a clear strategy. Ideally with the future in mind.

Ie not dale stephens type signings. A couple of bodies that improve what we have - now and in the future.

We could get a few quid for Barnes, and / or Jay, free up wages on others like stephens and Brady and other high earning players who bring little value to the table.

In fairness to Dyche we didn't have many games in between the day he signed and when he finally made his debut starting the game 4 days later against LIverpool

I still hold the view that we should be able to buy players with the money generated by the club, vs outside investment from Pace and others. It just requires him to sanction it.

I just hope the Board see the effort put in by the players week in week out and understand it’s their responsibility to work just as hard all summer.
