a few facts from todays brilliant victory!

Post by claretblue » Sun Apr 25, 2021 5:36 pm

Best since 1965 - the stats
Burnley completed their first top-flight double over Wolves since the 1956-57 campaign, although the Clarets (7th) finished below Wolves (6th) in the table that season.

Burnley registered their second away win by a margin of three or more goals in the Premier League this season (also 3-0 Crystal Palace in February) - the first time they've recorded two such away victories in a single top-flight campaign since 1965-66.

Wolves' loss was their heaviest home Premier League defeat since March 2012, when they lost 5-0 to Manchester United.

Burnley registered their biggest away win in the English top-flight since a 4-0 victory over Sunderland in November 1965.

63% of Dwight McNeil's Premier League assists have been for Chris Wood goals (10/16); of all players with at least 15 assists in the competition, McNeil has the highest percentage for one team-mate.

Chris Wood became just the third player to score an away first-half Premier League hat-trick after Chris Sutton for Blackburn vs Aston Villa in August 1997 and Michael Owen for Liverpool vs Newcastle in August 1998.

Our last 10 league matches at Molineux. W4 L4 D2. Used to be such a bogey side for us.

Good facts which demonstrate what a superb performance it was today. What a great manager and team.

Not good. I was at Anfield for our last victory there, now consigned to history and I was on Roker when our ‘65-‘66 side murdered them, also now in the bin.

And robbed of victory last season by a late dodgy pen.

went to Molineux to see our 1 - 0 defeat to them in September 2018

we were totally played off the park that Sunday and it made very miserable viewing (similar to away at Sheffield Utd last season)

Todays performance from the Clarets was outstanding...very proud of the club!

Since Sean came to the Turf we have played Wolves on 10 occasions, winning 5 drawing 4 and losing 1 scored 15 against 6.
Our previous 20 matches against Wolves we had won 5 drawn 1 and lost 14 scoring 15 against 35.

Sean does seem to have the 'midas touch' against them when compared to previous years. As Culmclaret says they used to be a real bogey team!

I read this on the ol' Twitter

- Mohamed Salah
- Harry Kane
- Jamie Vardy
- Alexandre Lacazette
- Heung-Min Son
- Chris Wood

The only Premier League players to have scored 10 or more goals in each of the last four seasons.

And of course, Wolves was his first match in charge! A comfortable 2-0 win!

Worth pointing out he is the first to achieve this feat in this century.

Chris Wood is also the first New Zealander to score a Premier League hat trick.

Burnley scored more goals this weekend than all the so called "big 6" did combined...

This is the second 4:30am kickoff I've got up for. Glad I did :D The others I watched later, even when I don't know the score it's just not the same watching knowing the game is already over.

Agreed! The Liverpool away game (afternoon ko) I got held up in traffic and couldn’t get back in time so I just decided to take it easy and watch it later. But I got a text just saying Ashley Barnes! So I had hours to stew on whether he had chinned someone or what before I watched it 😊

We outran Wolves today by 6km - that's pretty much unheard of at this level I would imagine
