Wolves and Burnley set for FA fines

Looks like both clubs are to be fined after Sunday's melee for failing to control their players. A bit harsh if true.

How about them also fining the referee for failing to take the appropriate action, i.e. Traore.

The “charge” of failing to control the players always puzzles me
What to they expect? Dyche & Woan to run onto the pitch to pull them apart?
There were 3 bookings during the game, 2 of which were during the melee, following the VAR review.
If it was that bad then surely they would have booked more.
I suppose it will appease those that consider us to be a “team of thugs”

More annoying as the majority of players, from both sides, were trying to keep the peace.

It was something and nothing and dealt with at the time so can't see the need for further action. If further action is taken surely it will be very low fines in relative terms and also something and nothing.

Why are they not fining Daniel Podence for the ridiculous play acting and petulant behaviour?

Ridiculous, have they seen how the top teams players act?
All Tarkowski did is pick the cheating ******* up. The rest was them.

This is a comment by a wolves fan on their message board. Says it all really.
"Podence - A shambles. Some fans like him because they think he's clever but he actually harms the team. Constantly gives the ball away and has absolutely no end product. His fake injury spoke volumes about him and his character and I don't want players like this at Wolves. Not even going to give him a mark after that. Disgusted by him."
"Burnley - well deserved victory and the fact they outran us and out fought us speaks volumes about their commitment compared to ours. They ran 6km more than our players it was reported. Nuff said."

Still don't understand why Tarky got a yellow for that. Xhaka got a red for grabbing Westwood's throat when we played Arsenal, strange that VAR didn't give the same punishment to Troare. The inconsistency in decisions is ridiculous for a system that was supposed to help the referees get it right.

The FA prove time and time again they are not fit for purpose. Even with the help of VAR they failed to follow their own rules, then choose to fine us - just laughable.

An absolute nonsense if true. Something and nothing as said above. How on earth are the clubs supposed to control that. It will make the FA look idiotic.

As far as I'm concerned this is down to Tarkowski.
Whether the player was injured or not you do not attempt to pull him up if he isn't willing. He caused the fracas and I hope Dyche tells him in no uncertain terms that that is not how to behave. It's irrelevant what Podence was up to. We were 2-0 up at the time and doing well and it could have upset everything. If fans had been there it might well have done.
It was just stupid.

just another circumstance where our players must learn to turn the other cheek no matter how frustrating it may be

I, kind of, agree with you Hipper but I think the players and manager are so fed up the blatant cheating (which never gets punished) that it's very easy to say "stay calm". It must be so difficult when you see a player like Podence acting so badly.
As for the charge by the FA they are just having a bloody laugh. They are setting a very dangerous precedent if that constitutes failing to control your players. It was a bit of shoving and dragging players away rather than a huge scrap. The ref/VAR was also very poor in dealing with it but that's, almost, a given in every game these days.

I disagree. Tarks was merely treating him like one of his team-mates, rather than a mard arse nobody who thinks that he's good.
The Wolves fan had it bob on for me.
Unfortunately, there are too many mard arses in the game who have benefitted from cheating. The likes of Lineker pour petrol on the issue: "He was entitled to go done" So is a 5 dollar whore

Maybe Tarkowski could’ve laid down on the floor next to Podence giving him a cuddle making sure he was okay until help arrived.

From what I can see there has been no suggestion of us being fined, although I'm not saying we won't, it's just something that's come from Keith Hackett the former referee in an article that suggests Podence went down initially after coming together with Tarkowski (it was Brownhill) and that tempers boiled over with Wolves already winning 2-0.

Podence should have been booked for play acting and straight red for Traore for striking an opponent always been a red card offence
We don't need VAR just a ref whose got some guts.

Bizarre if either club faces a fine for that it was handbags at worst, however Tarks was ill-advised to even get involved in the 1st place, although I can fully understand his frustration at Podence's antics.

Tarkowski initially, during play, nearly stands on Podence after watching him fake his fall, so I can understand why he tried to help him up - which is all he initially tried to do until Podence lashes out at Tarky and then proceeds to fake a face injury.
Personally I'd have "accidentally" stood on the idiots hand and then plead ignorance...

So every time an opposition player is touched in some way it’s a yellow card? Genuinely unaware of that.

I thought that podence stuck his arse out into our player and then having instigated that, threw himself forward.
The whole thing looked completely unnatural. If you did as podence did to someone at work, you'd get hr on your back for some sort of sexual assault.
The fa have got to sort this mess out over the close season. If the refs were miked up, that would be a decent start. Add retrospective reviews for diving and some sort of "officials call" arrangement as in cricket, we'd be getting somewhere.
For the retrospective call thing, I'd give the opposing side the opportunity to cite three incidents per game for review. It would be tough narrowing it down to three in some cases, but as the Diver wouldn't know who was being selected while the match was being played, limiting it to 3 would affect all the opponents cheats while the match was on, not just those three.
I guess you could pick the same cheat 3 times. Salah, salah, salah, or three different ones. The penalties would have to get worse for each offence.

To be fair to Hackett it’s the reporter that’s got the info wrong not him. However the quote from Hackett is wonderfully vague “It’s likely that both clubs might be charged for failing to control both of their sets of players.“
Likely that both clubs might?

Brilliant. Don’t cuddle him though, he would get booked. Can you imagine if the whole team went down across the pitch, mimicking the play acting? It would be so embarrassing for the cheater, potentially create a trend for players to call out cheats this way, and stamp it out of the game through collective player power.
Crowds would love it!

I've often thought that if an opponent got a penalty for an obvious dive that our players could do a dive together if they score it, or when/if we score the equaliser.
Or the Lacazettes screaming episode!

Tarks needs to learn to walk away from these incidents. There are enough cameras on games to ensure justice is done. I can remember him striking out at Glenn Murray of Brighton which was picked up after the game and he received a ban. Needs to follow Ben Mee's example

In limited defence of Tarks (who has a habit of getting in people’s faces after they dive - but hey, it helps wind them up). Glenn Murray had managed to fracture his wrist when he manufactured contact to win the penalty he then missed.
During the following corner, after watching Tarks get it strapped up and treated, Murray grabbed it with both hands and twisted. I wouldn’t of minded if Tarks had laid out.
Pretty sure Tarks missed 3-4 matches anyway as he had to have his wrist plated.

Don't really agree with the criticism of Tarkowski picking him up. I think more players need to act like he does to try and buck the trend. Strange thing is, he does it himself. Most notably in our last game where he takes a head injury too break a counter.

Disagree. If the ref/VAR had made the right call Tarkowski would have caused Wolves to be reduced to 10 men. We know Wolves are easily wound up, wouldn't surprise me if Dyche had told the players to look for opportunities to unsettle them.
