Upset ? I would have been if I was a Leeds supporter watching that garbageDevils_Advocate wrote: ↑Sat May 01, 2021 5:07 pmWhy would someone get wound up by a post complimenting a team who's walked the Championship and suggests their fans might have their sights set on doing better than merely surviving next season?
You'd have to live a pretty sad life if a reasonable post on topic like mine upset you

Not you, the people you think I was trying to wind up. You obviously think a post like mine could wind someone up or you wouldn't have made the reply you did.
Im still scratching my head why you would think it.

Southend win at Barrow but results elsewhere mean they join Grimsby in being relegated to the National League ...
I think someone else has mentioned this but glad that Barrow have retained their League status for at least a 2nd season, it would have been a shocker for their fans not to have seen one game of their League stay if they'd have been relegated ...

The last time they were promoted to the premier league, they were very bit as impressive as this time. But I suspect with no investment again, they’ll suffer the same fate, pretty football with mot much reward.Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Sat May 01, 2021 4:49 pmHow good are Norwich!!! Re: Today's football 01/05
Well at least Morecambe have given themselves a chance, and if they don't get up automatically they still have the play-offs to fall back upon, and for their budget Derek Adams has achieved wonders. All the pressure will be on Bolton next week, and they'll have the memory of blowing a lead today fresh in their minds, whereas Morecambe are in good form, and they should fancy themselves to bag all 3 points against Bradford, and if they do that then that's all they can do, and whatever transpires at Crawley transpires.huw.Y.WattfromWare wrote: ↑Sat May 01, 2021 5:18 pmBolton @ Crawley and Morecambe home to Bradford next Saturday.

Well done Barrow a difficult season, but they survived just, ditto Harrogate on their 1st ever campaign at this level a creditable mid-table finish for them also.Clarets4me wrote: ↑Sat May 01, 2021 5:21 pmSouthend win at Barrow but results elsewhere mean they join Grimsby in being relegated to the National League ...

I'm sure it wasn't that long ago both Grimsby and Southend were doing well in the 2nd tier, the demise of both has been shocking and rapid, and just shows how quickly the tide can turn once things start going awry.

Maybe but the experience of a year in the Premier league makes a big difference as we saw when we bounced back. They look a better side than two years ago so I think a lot of their fans will look at what Leeds have done and see no reason why they cant match it.
Whether they do or not is another question altogether

Ivan Toney scored his 30th goal for Brentford today.
Some feat in his first season. So if Brentford don’t win the play offs should Burnley be in for him?

We would need to ship one or 2 of our strikers out to accommodate him and he isn't going to want to rotate like we do.
He's going to want to be guaranteed game time.
Re: Today's football 01/05
Wouldn't mind a trip to Barrow or Harrogate in one of the cups next season.

Only if we've got £30m+ to splash out on a striker, Brentford showed with Olly Watkins they drive a hard bargain when it comes to selling their stars, I can see someone like West Ham being interested in him particularly if they qualify for Europe.ClaretLoup wrote: ↑Sat May 01, 2021 5:43 pmIvan Toney scored his 30th goal for Brentford today.

Everton-Villa team news, Keane on the bench for Everton after his hamstring injury kept him out of the squad at Arsenal, still no Grealish for Villa, and if he doesn't return soon you do have to fear for his Euro prospects.

I've seen the vids of the scenes outside the ground. Flares and fireworks, lots of bouncing about then presumably Exeter score and it all goes quiet. Brilliant. There is also a video of them fighting amongst themselves, the younger ones mainly with the older ones telling them to calm down. They even try to get in the stadium. How can they be 10 years in front and be so backwards?

Fulham have 12 points to play for getting them to 39 if they win them all. Even that might not be enough, they are gone!

Re: Today's football 01/05
We visit CC on the 10th May, but by then it could all be done and dusted, win against West Ham on Monday, and the gap will be 12 to Fulham, plus our GD is way superior, we could probably now even afford to lose at Fulham and still stay up, but it would be nice to clarify our status ASAP.diamondpocket wrote: ↑Sat May 01, 2021 7:22 pmFulham have 12 points to play for getting them to 39 if they win them all. That's 1 point out of 18 for Fulham now, and that dire run has occurred at the worst possible time of the season for them, they were just threatening to put some pressure on the teams above them, but that's now dissipated in a puff of smoke.
It does pose the wider question what is Scott Parker's immediate future, he did bring them straight back up, but their points tally is only marginally improved from 2 seasons ago, and they don't appear to have made any tangible progress in those 2 years, still flaky at the back, and can't hold onto a lead.

Fulham have to win 3 from 4 as a bare minimum to have a slim hope of staying up. Given they have won 5 from 34 I would suggest that is highly unlikely to happen and we already have more than enough points to look forward to a 6th consecutive season in the Premier League

League1.
Lashers v Brizzle R. A draw will do them so should take the third spot.
Danny Aygei got a vital late winner for Oxford. They are home to Burton whilst Pompey are home to Stanley.
Oxford need a better result to jump Pompey and a win plus a Lashers defeat with a three goal swing to leapfrog the donkey botherers.

If we lose Monday and they beat us, only 6 points behind with 3 games to go. They'd have Saints to play, we Leeds first at lunchtime. Lose that & they'd go into playing Saints in the afternoon knowing a win would take them 3 points from us. That would be interesting. Just saying like.

If any manager should be getting linked to the Spurs job I'd argue it should be David Moyes after his exploits this season, they've also been linked with Brendan Rodgers, but I genuinely can't see him leaving Leicester right now, not on the upward path they're currently on.

Excuse my laughter at Scott Parker's after match comments, he thinks they can win all 4 of their remaining games he does have one thing right he is living in cuckooland.
They've won 5 games out of 34, what on earth makes him think they'll suddenly turn into Man City in the final few weeks of the season.

Re: Today's football 01/05
I don't disagree, but if Spurs want a manager who plays pretty football and wins nothing, surely they'd be better going for Eddie Howe, who is out of work and therefore available. And who does at least have some expertise of how the PL works, Parker has shown nothing to convince me he's got a future at this level, mind you Gareth Southgate took Middlesbrough down and then got appointed England manager so who knows these days.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Sat May 01, 2021 8:05 pmThey're genuinely trying, not all, but some are.

Take a look at the superb magic numbers post. Current numbers are 4 for Fulham and 5 for West Brom ( 5 games left). So if those 2 drop 1 point per game average then it matters not what we do.

I think at best they could get 2 wins and a draw. Parker has to remain upbeat for the benefit of his team. Tonight's interview on Sky Sports was a tough one. I thought he spoke well and stood up for his players. Not sure if Fulham will keep him, having supported one relegation already. Has the potential to manage a PL side in time-maybe Palacetiger76 wrote: ↑Sat May 01, 2021 8:14 pmExcuse my laughter at Scott Parker's after match comments, he thinks they can win all 4 of their remaining games he does have one thing right he is living in cuckooland.

That's not actually true. It's only +5, so in the highly unlikely scenario that they were to win all 4 whilst we win only one, (or win 3 and we lose all 5), they would almost certainly end up with a superior GD.
Anyway, it shouldn't be an issue.
