The electrical means of heating the hot water has stopped working (still works with the oil) do I call an electrician or a plumber , cheers

If a plumber can fit a boiler they will also be able to handle the electrics that you use to heat your hot water.
Of course, it's a good question to ask when you contact the plumber.
I'd be less confident that a sparks would be experienced in handling things that heat hot water.
Just based on my experience of having trades in the house.

We have strange water here and after we moved in the element in the cistern blew. We replaced it, hardly use the electric side as we have an oil option. Next time we used it, maybe three years, it had corroded through again. We were then advised to get a stainless steel one. More expensive but it’s been in over 10 years now.
