Any Astronomy People out there?

Post by morpheus2 » Mon May 03, 2021 8:54 pm

Purchased one of these a few weeks ago but havent had the chance to really try it out yet. I've seen great reviews about it and I am slowly building up its potential with the many accessories required..anyone else have the Celestron Nexstar 8SE or similar - which accessories ie; focal reducers, lenses, dslr cameras and attachments would you recommend?

Not my cup of tea but I hear you can't go wrong with one Russell Grant's many books if this is what you're into

If you've got a fit neighbour try it on her window first!

You could use the telescope to find Tarks idea of a pass, apparently the ball is still up there.

Have a Celestron 150mm SCT on an equatorial mount. Very good for planets and ok for general astronomy. Youve got a good set up there.

Dont worry about expensive add-ons. Get used to finding your way around the sky and appreciating just what there is to view at different times of year. The supplied eyepeices are ok but that would be the first upgrade when youre ready.

Id look at using binoculars first of all to get a feel for whats where. You can see stacks with a decent set of 10x50mm

I prefer to use my binos these days... recently sold my Celestron NexStar, although i still have the upgraded eyepieces. Might go in another telescope if i get one.

jollyjack recommends two great sites there, bags of help and info on them.

On the ITV programme 'Made in Britain' it showed how an Orion telescope is made:

It starts about half way through.
