Mattress recommendations

Post by PremierLeagueClass » Fri May 07, 2021 10:48 pm

Looking to invest in a decent mattress. Literally no idea where to start! Had a memory foam Caspar one previously which was okay but never found it that comfy. Thinking of going back to a spring based/hybrid now. Any ideas?

I bought a Geltex mattress through a guy I know who works for Silentnight. Mattress and drawer divan in king size cost me 800 quid. Retail it is 1400. I could sleep on a washing line so a huge expense but Mrs Herts has said it is the most comfortable bed she has slept on. Had a memory foam and didn't rate it.

Be careful when you google, use a friends PC as the adverts will get out of control!

We got a Nectar mattress last year, seemed great on the reviews - it’s pretty firm and supportive but it’s certainly not been a game changer in terms of a better nights sleep.

Was just about to post the same.

Can’t speak highly enough of Harrison mattresses. They are expensive but I’d rate it as the best purchase I’ve ever made (I value my kip!!!).

Go to Prestige beds in Burnley and try them out - worth every penny.

Can second this. Easily the comfiest bed I’ve slept on and sorted out all aches and pains. I think it was the Geltex 2 or 3000 can’t remember exactly.

I’d go for a Casper one, just because of the name!

Best in our house is the Otty Hybrid mattress, much better than the Emma in my opinion

If you are tired enough you’ll sleep anywhere on any old mattress, I’d save the money on the mattress & utilise that saving on a decent mattress topper.

I’d recommend going up to Briercliffe Bed Centre and discussing with him. Always been impressed by them.

Id disagree with given the state of what I'm sleeping on right now. I would have replaced things but for the work on the house having been held up for the last 14 months but will definitely be seeing advice on beds and mattresses at some point. I can assure you I am sure I'll sleep better once this old mattress has gone through the door.

If you're buying an expensive mattress - buy one from a company that gives you a decent trial period with a no quibble money-back guarantee, including free pickup, if it doesn't work out for you. Also, lying on one in a shop for five minutes proves nothing, especially when you are likely to spend a third of your life, for the next five years or so, sleeping on it.

I agree to a certain degree, like I said before it all hinges on how fatigued you are to start with, if you’ve got some energy in the tank to start with you can be more choosy, some people when completely drained could sleep on a hard floor & some often do. I tend to find the collapsible bed settees the comfiest with a half decent topper on.

Thanks for the replies! Very useful.

A mattress is something I’m prepared to spend more on. Life can be very hectic and a good nights sleep is priceless. I’m not one of those people that can fall asleep wherever they like. I envy people that can sleep in a car/plane!
