Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Will Vaulks at Cardiff would bring something different, excellent long range shooting and dare I say it a long throw which would really wind up the rest of the prem.

We're so crap at throws a long throw specialist wouldn't go amiss. Especially when we rely so much already on winning second balls from set pieces.

Ryan Nyambe looks a decent player. Isn't he the one Rovers fans were raving about.?

How reliable is this website?
It shows our neighbours having the following out of contract - Nyambe
Rothwell
Evans
Holtby
Downing
Johnson
Costello
Bennett
Quite a few there. With Armstrong being on the radar of Premier league clubs , Elliot returning to Liverpool, Harwood-Bellis back to City. Is Branthwaite still there? If so back to Everton. That’s a lot - can’t remember if Trybull was signed permanently from Norwich either. Re-build on at deadwood?

It won't do anything for the average age of the squad, but as an experienced backup Steve Cook on a free would be a solid signing, alongside a Nathan Collins type, younger with potential signing.jojomk1 wrote: ↑Mon May 10, 2021 9:25 amChampionship "freebie" anyone ?

This is a really bad start to the window! Dyche linked with Palace and now Dwight with Villa. It’s going to be a long summer.

The other option is to have a manager and players nobody else would be interested in, this also means being somewhere between the 2 divisions lower.
There is nothing anybody can do about gossip but you can certainly make a list of those who genuinely know things and listen to them rather than some of the "journalists" who have articles to peddle

I imagine it would take between 40-50m for us to sell though. Not sure Villa would want to spend that kind of money.

McNeil has 3 years left on his contract (plus an option of an additional year) so IF he leaves it'll be for a ridiculous amount of money. I'm very relaxed about that particular situation.

Bergwijn available for a knockdown fee, still only 23, could play on the right or through the middle, plenty of pace.

Sun on Sunday have us back in for Joe Worrall at £10m
BTW none of the links are opening for me. Is this a problem for anybody else?

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
One of the ways we can go to the next level financially is to sell our "assets" at the right time. Tarkowski and Pope are two who could have gone for 30m plus but Dyche didn't want to sell, in another season or two both could end up going for far less or nothing at all.ClaretAL wrote: ↑Fri May 28, 2021 8:01 amThe Villa McNeil story still doing the rounds

When Sean knows he has a player in the squad who can do a job he doesn't want to take the risk of changing them for another who might not cut it. He's more likely to keep them until they're no longer good enough or out of contract than to sell them and have to find a first team player.
With Brady leaving it's not a great time squad wise to have to replace Dwight but if there is big money on the table selling Dwight could finance several decent transfers.
It'll be interesting to see how this pans out because the new owners are keen on player trading as a source of revenue whereas Sean likes squad stability.

How do you know that the new owners like trading as a source of revenue? They haven’t bought or sold anyone yet?dibraidio wrote: ↑Sun May 30, 2021 8:48 amWith Brady leaving it's not a great time squad wise to have to replace Dwight but if there is big money on the table selling Dwight could finance several decent transfers.

I think the problem short term is that the underinvestment in the squad leaves us far too short on numbers to be selling anyone. We need to buy this summer, plug the gaps well and give ourselves a foundation where a sale/loss of a key player wouldn’t be so harmful.

Player trading is the way forward for us.
We have AI scout. We have the club partnership and a lot of money and effort getting us to cat1 academy status.
It’s quite clear to me that we see the development of players as a key part of our strategy recognising that we will never complete in the same league as more financially backed clubs.
Selling McNeil, whilst not something I would want to see, I agree that if you can get premium money for him and spend less on the replacement(s) or buy more players for squad depth then this is a model that allows us to grow.
It’s going to take a bit of time but once this approach gets momentum you can see how profit can be made from this approach

I don't think it's actually worth selling unless a big bid comes in. We need to sell players to the rich clubs to make some real progress. A bit like Leicester have done with a few of their players.
As long as we're knocking about near the bottom of the league we aren't going to get big teams interested in our players which means the fees will probably always be low. 30m for Tarkowski when stoke want 20 for Collins?

I agree it’s a model we have used successfully in the past and will do moving forward. It’s high risk too though, since you are selling a proven player to buy unproven ones. Get it wrong and you’re down, when the vultures will circle for all your best players on the cheap.
My point is that, with our squad so depleted, this summer is not the one to start contemplating that approach. We need to build the squad back up to a point we are able to do that.
Another point is that Dwights value is unlikely to reduce at 21. If we put some other decent players around him this summer it might bring the best out of him & increase his value.

I don’t think much will get spent again unless some of our star players leave, I think the BG fee will be reinvested & odd loans might come in or a decent player from the championship & that’ll be it, mildly stable & underwhelming but enough to ensure SD can work his magic again for another season.

Does Dyche get any bonus from 'added value'/transfer fees for a player?

Worrall again? Dyche really lacks an imagination when it comes to transfers.

I hope you are wrong! Realistically we need 3 big signings (centre half, midfielder and right winger)and we aren’t going to get them all for 20 million. This is the result of the past few windows at some point it was always going to catch up with us. On the plus side with us being linked with players it sounds like Dyche isn’t going anywhere.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Sun May 30, 2021 11:36 amI do think we’ll do something but no to the level some people are expecting, the total outlay won’t excess 20mil I don’t think I could be wrong.
