To be fair to the nay-sayers, our recent record in transfer windows doesn't inspire much confidence.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Fri Aug 27, 2021 10:02 pman opinion is based on information, all this "we aren't signing anyone" was based on made up imaginary nonsense - they are worlds apart

Exactly & when we do eventually sign this cornet bloke which is looking likely, it’s going to be guaranteed that some people instead of being happy about the addition will be looking to get 1 up on other posters who had earlier expressed well founded doubts overlooking our “recent record in the transfer windows” which generated the existing lack of confidence.

Still can’t believe we are in for Cornet, and nobody else is! Watching YouTube vids ( I know they can be misleading ) left foot, right foot, pace, tricks and looks a good finisher. Being a claret for 50 years makes you sceptical about things. Get him signed before someone nips in !!!

Begs the question why though, any ideas? Perhaps it’s a position nobody else is looking to fill or perhaps something more sinister, you’ve raised a good point though if he’s all that why seemingly isn’t he on many clubs radars taking into consideration the fee which isn’t that much to some clubs.Bigvince wrote: ↑Sat Aug 28, 2021 8:18 amStill can’t believe we are in for Cornet, and nobody else is! What's the catch then and why is he still at Lyon player and why did Man City not get him if he's that good... so many questions and not enough answers.

He is a player we are interested in, the club have done their research and it looks like we have been pretty persistent in getting him.
Any and every signing will come with an unknown element to fans. Will they be a great/good/average/poor addition to the team?
We either can’t compete with other clubs or we go for players who don’t have any competition and then ask why no one else wants them. How does that work then?
We need new players and investment and we are getting it by the looks of it. We should all be delighted

I’m not whinging about anything, just can’t believe we’re likely to sign such a dynamic and cosmopolitan player. Hope it comes off and there’s more to follow!Blyclaret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 28, 2021 8:55 amJust read the posts on this thread. Tell u a lot about who supports Burnley.

Pages and pages of rubbish and still not made one signing in this window with 3 days to go that will improve our starting 11. It wouldn't surprise me if this Cornett deal collapsed at the 11th hour

Don’t forgot people whinging about other people who they perceive as whinging.
Or just accept it’s a message board, don’t worry about it, and just carry on.

Nonsense.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 28, 2021 3:09 amgiven the fact someone has broken our scouting system and allowed scouts to go further than Stoke I'm more than hopeful our options have dramatically improved, you could pluck any midfielder from any La Liga starting eleven and it would give us more ability on the ball than we currently have

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Interesting read but says nothing really. Just speculating that if we sign a winger we can't sign a midfielder.
No reason why we can't do both, if £5 million is the fee.
And the side news that Villa want McNeil.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
On 24 August, Sky Sports reported Burnley have agreed a deal for Lyon winger Maxwell Cornet.
Phillips insists this move rules out any potential swoop for Christie.
“I would say that’s dead in the water, he won’t be leaving,” Phillips told Football Insider assistant editor Dylan Childs.
“You can’t say for sure but I think that’s the only outcome now. If they have agreed a deal [for Cornet] that’s it.
So he's saying Christie and Cornet are like for like or we've no more dosh.

The way I read it is that Phillips is writing for Celtic fans: don't worry about Christie leaving, Burnley have already spent everything they've got on this other guy.HahaYeah wrote: ↑Sat Aug 28, 2021 9:52 amOn 24 August, Sky Sports reported Burnley have agreed a deal for Lyon winger Maxwell Cornet.

If Christie signs for anyone now, it'll be on silly wages. If he signs now, he wants to be compensated for what he'll lose in regards to signing on fee for pre-contract.gawthorpe_view wrote: ↑Sat Aug 28, 2021 9:48 amInteresting read but says nothing really. He is expected in England only after the international break

It’s difficult for us to know. He is french so may know more as Lyon are more open to the press than Burnley. Even if he hasn’t had a medical, we know people in the club are confident. Fingers crossed.
