loftus cheek starts for us he’s a really good player
Hmm! 1 goal and 0 assists in his loan stint at Fulham don't exactly back up your argument. Now that's not to say he wouldn't get in our starting XI, but if his wages are as high as reported, we could be spending a fortune on his salary for little return.

A couple of years ago I thought this lad would become a top player, but his career has badly stalled since then, partly due to injuries admittedly.

He's also being linked Southampton, as well as Bundesliga clubs, so if we were interested we'll likely be outbid anyway.

Despite some of the faults & drop off in form, he would become a massive upgrade & compliment what we already have in the engine room without a doubt.

RLC was very good at Palace on loan a couple of seasons back, but he looked poor at Fulham (not alone in that).

I don’t think he’d suit us at all though as we couldn’t accommodate him in a 2 man midfield and he’s not good enough to justify shifting formation for (in my opinion). Not linked to us anyway, so irrelevant really.

Lookman always looks a threatening player but his end product is hit and miss. I have to say, I think Dyche could do wonders with him and his ability to play either wing would represent a really good option. I’d prefer us to be getting him in with an option to purchase clause if possible though.

Still seem to be heavily linked with Maitland-Niles and Cornet despite hearing diddly from anyone of consequence (I.e, a John Percy type) on the realism of them signing for us. I won’t pretend I know anything of Cornet (bar the customary YouTube investigation, naturally) but his versatility is definitely a bonus - much like AMN and Lookman really. Having players who can cover a few areas such as these is a blessing when we run a small squad as we always do.

I may be proven totally wrong (and I probably will), but the lack of constant talk around Cornet and AMN is something I find more alluring in the believability stakes. Both have been linked via Twitter cautiously, and then continued to be mentioned and we appear to be the only clubs really continuously spoken about for them. Could we actually be rather close to one or both of these and have managed to successfully have kept a lid on that progress? Let us hope so.

If I’m honest Jedi I think you are right. I can see AMN coming to Burnley; I know people don’t like to use Twitter as a reference for transfers. However, this just seems different, there are too many different people saying it is close

If both turned up, this forum would stop working in shock and a number of users would disappear until the next transfer window.

Of all the transfers we are linked to, I am most hopeful about AMN, for no apparent reason whatsoever. Could play RW, cover RB and play a role at RCM if we decided to play 3 in midfield. Would be ideal but I’m trying not to get my hopes up.

Chelsea trying to get shut of Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Not that I'd want to sign him, but another example of a player who seemed to be regarded higher than his actual ability, simply because he played for a big club.
That isn't true, at all. Let me educate you, he's been at Chelsea for 16 years, not because they are a big club because he's a damn good footballer. Chelsea have given him 2 5 year contract extensions.

He made 13 appearances for Chelsea when he was 19 years old, what does that have to do with being at a big club?

As for being at a big club, his best spell of football came at Crystal Palace on loan, he was genuinely brilliant and he was impressive for England too. He ran that Germany game, again, that's nothing to do with him being at a big club.

The following season he was back at Chelsea, again he was brilliant in the league and arguably the best player in the Europa League, he missed the final through injury. That same achilles tendon injury kept him out pretty much a full season and he hasn't rediscovered his form yet.

Ability wise, he's head and shoulders above anything we've got, that injury might have ended his career though but he was brilliant before it for Chelsea, England and Palace.

Loftus cheek has been a very impressive footballer.

He was played off the striker for Palace that we don't do very often. But a very strong footballer who can run midfield.

Let's hope he recovers from the serious injury he had.

I would have him here in a shot but it will be a little bit of a risk. But I presume we could get access to his fitness stats.

RLC is a very good footballer but, in the same mould as Pogba, he usually looks disinterested.
A big guy who uses his body well to fend off tacklers and has a good pass in him.
Not sure his languid style would sit well with SD.

If these potential incomings were viewed as "luxury" instead of "much needed" signings that may well have been the case.

After several inactive transfer windows the club needs to start addressing the lack of pace and quality in an ageing squad sooner rather than later.

That third assist reminded me Saint Maximum for Newcastle. Really quick and a good dribbler. He would be the best signing we have done since Wood

RLC has got "a languid style " true but having ability pre serious injury doesn't mean you will go back to the dizzy heights when you played for England
If Chelsea want rid it's nothing to do with money so there must be doubts on his fitness
Personally, I would steer well clear.

A loan fee of 3.5m seems a bit excessive and I can’t see us even entertaining that for Lookman. He seems surplus to requirements at his parent club so if we actually wanted him, then testing the water with a permanent offer would be my preference, and at a guess I’d say also Dyche’s preference if indeed he wants him

I'd take him, big, powerful, attack minded.

Not a position I would prioritise but certainly needed in 12 months time.

When did Nathaniel Chalobah ever impress for England? not even remotely the same player, the only thing comparable is they're black footballers who both played for Chelsea at one time. RLC was Chelsea's best player bar Hazard in that Sarri season, Chalobah couldn't ever break into the Chelsea side.

Daig's an interesting link, and it does appear he's leaving Hibs, I guess that's why he's not included in their match day squad for the trip to Motherwell today, this from the Beeb, and a picture for those who don't know him. :)

Hibs head coach Jack Ross tells BBC Scotland that Josh Doig - left out of the squad today - is "highly likely" to leave the club soon.

"He's been the subject of a lot of attention and much more concrete interest over the last few days," says Ross.

"For us and for Josh, it needs to reach a head one way or the other.

"I'd like to keep him, but it looks more likely he'll leave the club fairly soon. There's still a number of suitors."

Nineteen-year-old Doig - last season's young player of the year - has been heavily linked with clubs in England, but Ross would only say his next destination is "possibly" down south.

This should it come off, and the Collins signing, might suggest a shift in strategy towards younger players, now that does carry it's own risks, but it also could bring it's rewards in the longer term.

£4m seems a lot for a fledgling SPL player mind you, so if we could get the fee down, but allow Hibs to insert a large sell-on clause, that might serve us, and possibly them better.

Daig's an interesting link, and it does appear he's leaving Hibs, I guess that's why he's not included in their match day squad for the trip to Motherwell today, this from the Beeb, and a picture for those who don't know him. :)
Mail say that should he leave an sign for us or Watford that he could immediately head to Forest on loan

That would certainly make sense for Burnley, as probably the one area where we have strength in depth is left-back, Charlie is one of the first names on the team sheet, and Pieters makes a more than adequate deputy if required.

Exactly where this club needs to be looking, young, with 1st team experience, but with potential.
Fingers crossed that things start to happen this week...

Maybe we would use it as leverage to bring in Worrall….

Seems to fit all the required credentials except that he's full back.

Maybe he has played elsewhere as well which hasn't been mentioned, so may fit the bill.

Looks like he can also play left-mid, but TBH our left side is pretty well stocked, it's the right side that's the problem area, and where we really need to bring someone in.

It's encouraging that we're being linked to younger players that's for sure, and in principal I agree.

The market does seem to picking up pace now, and if say Grealish to City goes through, that might well be the big money move which triggers the normal domino effect which we see every window.
