Not Twitter he’s stalling on a new contract, the sort of signing which I think could potentially help us.

So he's gathering interest just generally, but not for Burnley? Cool.

Correct, the same as albrighton in exactly the same boat but it didn’t stop us discussing him, after all it was unconfirmed interest according to some on here.ClaretAndJew wrote: ↑Sun Aug 01, 2021 6:48 pmSo he's gathering interest just generally, but not for Burnley? Cool.

What surprised me he is only 26, with lots of experience, a significant amount of which is in the PLClaretAndJew wrote: ↑Sun Aug 01, 2021 6:48 pmSo he's gathering interest just generally, but not for Burnley? Cool.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I think with Will Hughes he is only likely to attract interest from teams nearer the bottom of the PL ie Palace , or someone newly promoted like Brentford
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Why discuss Will Hughes when he has nothing go do with Burnley.

Since we finished 4th from bottom we should be at the front of the queue on that logic.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Will Hughes is so meh, I thought he looked really promising as a youngster, he's turned into a more advanced version of Ben Watson.

We are on the 80th page of this topic, lots of it being garbage . Here comes someone who is stalling on his contract, for me definitely an SD type player, in a position we are lacking in, still only 26, had some great games against us and you ask why we are discussing him. Have you got anyone closer to signing that we can talk about

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Our left side is lacking. Pieters is adequate as a left back or a left midfield option, but poor as a wing back, and we will need to replace him next year. With the departure of Brady we need a right sided winger and a left sided winger = 2 wingers.
If we brought in a left wing back then Pieters could fill one of the winger slots and we would already have his replacement in early. It isn't ideal, because I would prefer a better option to back up Dwight, but it might be the best we can do.
On the back of one season and his young player of the year accolade, the lad from Hibs has been linked with every club and his Doig recently ( sorry, couldn't resist ). Hibs seem to be holding out for £5m and strict assurances about his future development path and their future financial rewards. Ryan Porteus is the best player at Hibs and somebody we should have been looking at in this window.
In terms of a left wingback I still like the look of Fredrik André Björkan whose contract with Bodo / Glimt ends in December. Given our lack of finances, and his quality / age / potential, we should be looking to offer him a pre-contract at the very list. A transfer fee to see off any other interested parties would probably be better.
His team mate, Patrick Berg, is a cracking defensive midfield option and his contract runs out next year. Given that we will need three midfielders in the next couple of years this window would have been a good time to make a play for him.
We spent all of last summer trying to sign a midfielder and we ended up with Dale Stephens. The summer before we spent the entire window trying to sign a new midfielder and we ended up with Danny Drink Vodka. Anybody who thinks we can sign three midfielders in one or two windows, when we might be in the Championship, is clutching at straws. It would require our Technical Director and his new recruitment department additions to vastly exceed their current performance metrics - which are crap.
Domestic alternatives would be Dan Barlaser from relegated Rotherham or Jamie McGrath from St Mirren. We missed out on Alex Mowatt on a free transfer who could have slotted in on the left and given us another option in central midfield.
Lewis Ferguson would be nice, but I suspect he is beyond our financial means - given the number of new signings we will probably need over the next two season and our lack of money. Isak Bergmann Johannesson of Norrkoping, son of Joey Gudjonsson, would also fit the same category. Good, but probably beyond our spending power in respect to incoming vs total funds.
When people are bouncing around transfer fees of £20m for Ainsley Maitland-Niles it leaves me wondering if they realise just how much damage our poor performance in the last five windows has done to the club. How much recruitment work we have ahead of us and how little money we will have to work with. Even if we sell the club silver, in terms of our better players, our need to put aside money to cover the outstanding payments to Garlick and Co ( along with the debt and interest payments to Dell ) will leave little to work with.
The only shining light of our new recruitment departments consistent failure to sign first team players for the future was that we had accumulated a lot of money in our transfer kitty, but that was swallowed up in the sale to the new owners.
Out Of Contract In 2022
James Tarkowski, Ben Mee, Matej Vydra, Dale Stephens, Jay Rodriguez and Erik Pieters from the first team.
Lewis Richardson, Bobby Thomas, Anthony Gomez Mancini and Max Thompson from the development squads.
Out Of Contract In 2022 - With An Optional One Year Extension.
Ashley Barnes and Jack Cork.
Out Of Contract in 2023
Chris Wood, Johan Berg Gudmundsson, Ashley Westwood, Kevin Long and Matt Lowton.
Do we kick the can down the road again with all of these players, giving each and every one of them another new two years plus the option of a third contract on big wages, or do we release them and attempt to replace them with magic beans.
Doing what needs to be done in this window is the least of our worries, because the recruitment tasks that lie ahead of us in the next two Summer windows will be even more difficult.

Will Hughes is not a transfer rumour for Burnley.
If thats the case we should be talking a out every player out of contract or moving to other clubs.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Albrighton was different we were interested in him and were publicly linked with him in papers.
This guy is saying we should be interested in Will Hughes. We have no interest in Him.

That still wasn’t confirmed, can you explain why the other day on here then when he extended why some people on here were dismissing that we were ever really interested in him, either we were interested in him or we weren’t or some people simply don’t have a clue what there are talking about, which 1 is it?

If there's one position we dont need to fill its that ofa wingback (left or right) sided as Dyche doesn't play any kind of system that would use them.

I get why you'd be keen with us signing Hughes but im not convinced. Admittedly he could be a good signing and for Dyche to be showing interest he must offer something but just not for me Im afraid

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Do we have to limit ourselves into talking about 1 player when we could discuss 3 or 4, don’t get me wrong I want this cornet deal to go thru, but why concentrate all the talk on the back of some unfounded Twitter rumours even though it sounds promising but then again some rumours are manufactured to sound that way so shouldn’t be taken with that much conviction.

With how long transfers have been taking recently, if we we had a bid accepted it might just get through for the Brighton game.
