James Dean: Missing 'goal machine' footballer found dead

Post by tiger76 » Mon May 10, 2021 3:29 pm

Sad to read this news, he was a prominent figure at a number of northwest clubs including Chorley & Stalybridge Celtic.

I don't know if he was well known to some posters on here or not, but I'd be :o given the numbers who follow the lower leagues if he wasn't.

RIP James

I didn't know the guy but my social media has been full of posts about him, firstly in the search and then paying tribute.

So sad. Rest In Peace.

I didn't know him well, but played with him at Gt Harwood, he was a top lad and at that time as a 17/18 year old in the North West Counties, was the epitome of a box to box midfielder, had absolutely everything.

Very sad and coming at the start of Mental Health Awareness Week.

Can anyone confirm whether he occasionally watched the Clarets?

Pretty sure he was a Man Utd fan but stand to be corrected.

He was one of them players who opposition fans would see and have a laugh with in the early stages of the game. They expected him to be a big lummox and usually by full time they regretted goading him when he’d ran their defence ragged and got himself a goal.

I seem to remember him saying he was once quite high up in some field of martial arts when he was younger. I certainly wouldn’t like to have been marking him as a centre half.

Had his fair share of demons but was always happy to chat with fans after the game.

A sad loss.

Sad story...he came across as a nice lad in tributes made to him. Feel for his family and others like him who find themselves in such a situation....RIP.

You're right Steve it's horrible.

6 men from my age group who used to go to the pub in my town haven't made it to 40.

Women seem to be able to handle things better.

Not sure on the "Women " scenario. They make a lot of demands on men these days. I like you ..know of many lads ending their life.

Just a heads up that Clitheroe FC are putting on "Deanos day" on Sunday 25th July. it's a fundraiser for James's two young boys. A Clitheroe FC team will take on Trafford FC at 2pm followed by a live band. Gates open at 12 noon. I don't usually post on the message board but have been a long time reader as a Burnley supporter.

Mods ..please accept my apologies in advance if I have contravened any rules.

Thank you
