Tarkowski

If it’s his last season, what a player he has been. Never seen anyone as dominant in the air. I don’t blame him for wanting to move it’s Southgates fault for thinking Mings and Dier are better.

Absolutely immense tonight, as was Ben Mee.

Main reason we stop up every year. Include Heaton then Pope with that

I don’t know if there’s anything that can change Tarky’s mind, but he really is somebody worth breaking the bank for. Sadly it seems that it’s progression he seeks more than a bigger salary - admirable, but obviously not something we can really offer him. One of my favourite ever players.

I remember Arfield, Barton and Boyd grabbing three excellent goals in our brilliant 1-3 win at Brentford. Tarks refused to play for Brentford that night. Amazing what a journey he has been on since. Remember that he had to wait his turn during that first season, with Keane in the side. If anything, it has all gone too quickly. A fantastic centre half.

In my sixty odd years of watching Burnley he is right up there as one of our best centre backs ever. I would be delghted if he would stay for another season, but it looks like he will be going. We will miss him.

Watching Dier’s embarrassingly inept performance against Leeds, it’s astonishing that Southgate still picks him (and others) ahead of Tarko.

What happens if Maguire’s injury requires surgery and with the increased squad numbers for the summer- who better to play in back 4 when needed?
If he does get called up and sets the euros alight...

I expected nothing less from him but his total commitment to the cause, knowing he might not be here next year is fantastic. What a professional.

I loved Keane but tarks is stronger and would dominate him in the air. He put maguire in back of net other week

Southgate always wants to be the smartest guy in the room. And he usually never is.

Be interesting to see (if he goes) where he goes. Similar to Pope, I’m not sure where he would fit given price he would cost and players in his position at clubs who are seen as a step above.

Given their defensive display Friday night, Leicester should come back again this summer
And there is no reason that we should not hold out for over £30m
If so, I hope they are able to stay in the top four to give JT a chance of Champions League football rather than Europa
A club like Burnley have to accept players will want to leave for bigger and better things - its just who we are

Well, this is a very different Tarkowski thread to the one started last week.......

Tarkowski has been immense in most games with the odd blip (which all players have) and will be a big hole to fill when he leaves.

Monster of a defender, one of my favourite ever Clarets, and I love the way he plays with that cheeky smirk, when he won a free kick after Lookman(8 stone wet through) had bowled him over the look he give Lowton was priceless

Not sure if he would get the same opportunity or accolades elsewhere, however, for us, immense.

Thank you.

Incredibly difficult to replace on a like for like basis..an absolute beast of a bloke. I'd love to keep him.

Will get found out at a higher level. Keane isn’t the same player he was here.

Less protection will leave him exposed I’m afraid

Unbelievable !

Keane has certainly improved since moving

As for Tarks getting less protection elsewhere, I presume you think we have one of the best teams in the league

And we are going to finish where ?

Keane is still playing against the same quality of player at Everton that he was here. He is still an excellent centre half just like he was for Burnley.

What a strange thing to say?

I thought Tarkowski was a shoo in option for Aston Villa (they have the money and profile for Southgate, and a Mings partnership at club level would do no harm) but Konsa has put a stop to that, Konsa is not better yet but has the potential and age to become better

White also has the age and potential to be the better player but is not there yet

Keane is just a different kind of player, more speed for recoveries, scores more and is the more traditional kind of partner for a Tarkowski or Mee.

I would put Konsa ahead of Mings and by some distance

Hmmm, aren't our two centre backs overworked most games

I can't see him staying no matter what we offer him, I think his mind is made up for a move. Good player but personally I think Keane is the better of the two.

He has improved enormously since he became a regular.
That he hasn’t been an England regular is a shame on Southgate.
He is such an important part of our team.
I’ve said it before on here, and I believe it may be academic, but I think his best position is midfield on the right hand side.

He has done a really good shift with us, capped by a MoM performance in the game which confirmed our status for next year. Hope he does well wherever he goes (except against us of course when I will be only too happy to see him skinned by Vydra!). He has certainly benefitted from our defensive shape and discipline, but he is good on the ball and I can see him fitting well into more attack minded set-ups. Have always thought he was better than Maguire.

Just a very reasonable balanced opinion, you will never ever hear me scream ''Tyrone Mears for England'' or ''James Tarkowski future England captain'', those ridiculously biased OTT views will never come from me. You can disagree with my point I don't mind but most neutrals will agree.

Mings chews gum > Alex Ferguson Chews gum

which doesn't just make him International class but world class

on a separate note when did it become acceptable from a safety point of view for a player to chew gum in a game, I have vivid memories of it being prohibited by Lancashire Schools FA

But we play we 2 sitting midfielders and 4 full backs that’s more protection plus he made Harry Maguire look like Usain Bolt when Lingard ran past him last week

Sorry hard to resist that.
4 fullbacks
Not many centre half's would match the speed of Lingard.
And 2 sitting midfielders? You mean like almost every other team in the league? At man utd, they sit Fred and mctominny,(sp) at Liverpool they sit fabinho and hendo, at spurs they sit holberg and sissoko, at Everton they sit Davies and Alan, the list kinda goes on and on
