ARTICLE: Promotion celebrations continue in 1973

Apologies for the photo of the long haired louts in this article - you might recognise a couple of them.

But a civic reception and a players party

Bloody hell, its the Bay City Rollers!

Interesting (and heartwarming) to read about Willie Irvine being fined by Halifax for playing in the John Angus game. And I didn't know he retired at 29.

Good report, dodgy barnets and all.

Bay City Rollers????

I know all five of those people who I’m sure would not be impressed with that comparison. 😂😂😂

Thanks for all the articles,CT. A real 'feel good factor' at the club in 1973 and I, for one, was looking forward to attending matches regularly after my time away as a full time student.

We’d had a few disappointing years but 72/73 just came out of the blue and was magical.

Left to right in the long-haired louts picture, John Acornley (I think), Paul Fletcher, Tony Scholes, John 'Budgie' Webb, Frank Casper. I worked with Budgie at the Burnley Express and Tony from even further back

Four out of five - no John Webb on there.

Amazing I know Rob and he looked/looks nothing like Budgie. But photos play tricks and anyone who knows John Webb will say it looks just like him

Rob sits two seats in front of me on the Turf (or did until March last year) and John now lives in Cornwall but we are still in contact. As for the other two, I don't have a clue what they are up to. :D :D :D

Redrose was formed a year later. Fletch & Casp had heard the rumours and were looking to get deals. 😀😀
