New LED Signage and Big Screens
Re: New LED Signage and Big Screens
Impressive! It won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but I love the look of it. The legends pictures were incorporated with the digital boards on the images of the bee hole and Bob Lord, so hopefully they will be on the long side too.
I like the way that Wolves use their boards, particularly at night matches, to ‘set the atmosphere’. Hopefully we will do something along these lines - time for that entrance song that’s synonymous with Burnley?
This must be costing well into the millions, but if all of this visible activity is matched behind the scenes, we’ll hopefully begin to see this filter through in terms of money for players.
It’ll be small fry in comparison to advertising revenue, but if The Turf stands out on the TV as a great looking stadium, it’ll certainly attract more football tourists.

I'm hoping when we have the ball they are stationary and when the opposition have it they pulse at 20 flashes per second at full luminosity until we get the ball backMACCA wrote: ↑Wed May 12, 2021 12:59 pmHope it works as planned however Seeing the ball/players can be hard enough at times depending where you sit, I'm not sure more digital flashing advertisements will help that.
I'm not sure which fans were liased with to come up with that initiative to "improve fan experience"
Hopefully itll be fantastic, with it actually benefiting the fans, and the revenue created helps move the onfield side if things forward.

Where have you seen images of the Bob Lord & Jimmy Mac? The vid they show clearly shows the heroes pictures disappearing.

A good move from the club. Well done them, including the 'outside world' experience and market.

Re: New LED Signage and Big Screens
Looks impressive. However there does not appear to be a board along the length of the JH lower stand. Maybe because of a lack of TV coverage on that stand as the main cameras are located within that stand.
When the current boards first appeared they were extremely bright and on a murky Burnley day they were quite off putting. Subsequently they were toned down.
Do have concerns with the boards along the BL stand . Appear to be on top of one another with the messages going in opposite directions. This could be off putting to players and a similar arrangement is in place at Goodison Park this season. I do wonder if that is partly why Everton has had a poor run at home this season.
The training ground routines may not transfer well to the stadium with such distractions.

Got to say, looks horrendous. Just glad I’m not a regular attender to have to stare at lots of bright, distracting flashing images as I’m straining to focus on what’s going on on the pitch.
And how does this “improve the fan experience”? It’s a lot of corporate speak nonsense.

Re: New LED Signage and Big Screens
Just watched the video and it looks very impressive. Definitely drags the Turf into the 21st century, without losing its roots. The screen above the corner shop would be a welcome addition for all those on JHU with stiff necks.
I can appreciate the problem if thise inside the ground are too bright, but it isn't necessary for them to be that way.
I haven't read any timeline for this to happen, has it been mentioned anywhere, or is it just in the planning stage

Re: New LED Signage and Big Screens
You’re right, what you imply. I would be trying to have my attention fully on the pitch, but the hoardings are bright and flashy to try to distract me: “look at me. Look what I’m trying to sell you. Don’t look at the pitch! Look at me!” The stadium was traditionally designed to focus my attention on the playing surface, to give me the best view without distractions. That has now changed. The focus now is to divert my attention away from the football and to make me consume more.randomclaret2 wrote: ↑Wed May 12, 2021 5:03 pmWhy would you have to stare at " lots of bright, distracting flashing images ? I think it looks awesome. Seems a great idea to improve to the aesthetics of the ground improve the matchday experience. City have something similar and they don't do too bad. A great way to improve advertising and increase revenue. Well done Mr Pace and co. More please.

So do I! Accy Clarets paid for about 4 of those, along with the other supporters groups and one or two individuals. A lot of work and money from the Supporters Groups went into those!

On another note, I can’t remember being in any football stadium or watching on TV for that matter and thinking “I missed that, I was distracted by an advertising board”.

When they put the electronic pitch side advertising boards in for the 2014/15 season they were unbelievably distracting from where we sat. It think the club did eventually make some adjustments.arise_sir_charge wrote: ↑Wed May 12, 2021 6:01 pmOn another note, I can’t remember being in any football stadium or watching on TV for that matter and thinking “I missed that, I was distracted by an advertising board”.
This is very Spurs like and I don’t recall being distracted by the ones there. Mind you I think I did have my eyes closed for much of the time that day.

Re: New LED Signage and Big Screens
A multimillion pound investment, but I'm sure there is a solid business plan behind it, in terms of increased revenue.
I think it's great. Most of all, I love the statement it's making: moving forward, we will be operating at a Premier League standard. I see this as a calculated move to show in a highly visible way that the 'pie & peas' mentality, which frankly has been holding us back, is no more.

The boards are or were (?) great.
However, done right, each legend could be there, in their designated location digitally, with numerous images, statistics and even footage.
I think it could be even better than what’s there now... BUT.... the right thing to do would be to at least inform those that have put their time, effort and money in to what was a big improvement around the ground.

If they are removing them, I would hope that we are at the least consulted as to where they could be relocated within the ground or if that's not possible, have them given back to us in order that we can find a new home for them.

A good start, then perhaps we can have a state of the art PA system that we can actually hear, without the intermittent screeching, or sounding like Norman Collier with the volume turned right down.

I knew the supporters group had invested time and energy into researching the boards but hadn’t realised they had also funded them. As DCWat suggests, you would hope the groups would be consulted and the boards can be used elsewhere.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed May 12, 2021 3:22 pmThe bigger shame would be them replacing the player boards without telling us.
