Reportedly taking his guitar on away trips was great for team bonding and morale.
Sing-a-long a Steven.

I don't necessarily watch the entire programme, but he IS good (at least as good as the 'professional' presenters would be!) and as such has seamlessly moved from pundit in the studio (which he was for a long time) to presenter.

I like him, which is, admittedly, a lot to do with witnessing 'that' goal at Reading (and his very endearing response afterwards!).

I like also that I can say, to a small extent, when I see him on television, 'there's Steven Thompson, one of our own'; I like that pride by way of association when you see former players going on to do well elsewhere.

He's a very adroit, uber-cool presenter, with a killer fashion sense.

Finally, what I really like is that our recruitment so often seems to concentrate on good, rounded characters almost as much as playing ability; he is very eloquent and has real presence and substance about him too. And yet you know he will also be 'one of the lads'.

Long may it continue. We could (but it's not likely!!!) sign the new Messi, but if the bloke was a complete knob it would be hugely detrimental to our squad morale whatever he did for us on the pitch.

Ultimately, given our budget restrictions, etc., it's way better to carefully recruit players who will bring something positive to the dressing room as well as the pitch.

I thought he was the presenter every week. Funny thing is that he keeps bringing in ex clarets. Marvin Bartley is regularly on there. Grezza was a guest pretty much as soon as he arrived in Scotland. Not too much sign of Lafferty or Brian Easton though.

He does a good job of it. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up doing the same down south at some point.

He was another footballer that didn’t actually enjoy football apparently, well according to one of his team mates in a bar in town once

Googled it

‘I don’t really like football that much, and I don’t miss it. It is never on the TV in our house – never’
Steven Thompson, the former Rangers player who is now a successful pundit, tells Graham Spiers his favourite sports are tennis and golf

The major drawback when I lived in the Highlands was the awful dross that was the Scottish football games on TV masquerading as entertainment by the presenters
I saw Thommo play against us for Cardiff scoring a couple if memory serves and also our local game at the Madstad in the playoffs
As his strike flew in the home end started to empty.Great times to be a Reading based Claret

I used to take stick regularly, from my brother in law, as Reading always seemed to get a result.

The play offs sorted that!

I'm disappointed.

I was expecting you to google the conversation in the bar and reveal the mystery player.

I’m now wondering if I just read the paper in a bar in town

On a serious note, I’m pretty sure it was Jay about 9 years ago at a mates Birthday in town and it just stuck with me

The joy on his face and the almost head shake of disbelief at the quality of the goal at Reading is so memorable to me.

I can't remember which Burnley player it was from the Coyle era who commented on how intelligent Thompson is.

Chris Iwelumo is also a regular on these programmes, Easton and Lafferty are both still playing, so that might explain why they don't appear as pundits, it could be awkward for them commenting on players who they could well be lining up against in their next game.

Thommo is a good presenter, and he manages to be engaging well still maintaining a professional air, and that's not an easy thing to do.

Like many others every time I see him I can't help recalling his magical strike at Reading, and that goal will always live long in the memory for all Clarets.

Can you believe he wasn't a Coyle favorite because he didn't follow tactical instructions?
Let me rephrase that; can you believe Coyle actually had tactical instructions?
