I can't understand why the venue wouldn't be the same country as the 2 finalists.
More fans, more economical...more sensible!

Having it in London would mean the sponsors and organisers missing out on a weeks all expenses paid trip
Portugal will take them and they’ll not miss out

Because UEFA wanted quarantine exemptions from the UK Government for 2,000 people including media, dignataries, spnsors and VIP's.
The government offered quarantine exemptions for essential staff, UEFA turned this down.

They shouldn't be able to do that, it is just blatant ripping off customers.kendalianclaret wrote: ↑Thu May 13, 2021 11:56 amYou can tell flights to Porto gone from £9.99 up to £250 out and £295 return. for those dates

Re: Champions League final venue confirmed
Good news.
The Bank Holiday weekend of 29-31 May is when the play-off finals are due to be played at Wembley.
The 2 members of the treacherous 6 can have their final in Portugal.

Good decision, whatever the reason. Two English clubs is dull enough, let alone playing it in England.

Errr, the Portuguese goverment says that only ‘essential travel’ is allowed, when travelling to Portugal from a non-EU country.
Final should have been held in England.

Astonishing that comments are being bandied around about the "Greed" of UEFA, when two weeks ago both of these clubs were part of a conspiracy to form a breakaway league and fill their own coffers at the expense of the rest of the football pyramid.
Football fans obviously have very short memories.

Shoddy stuff from UEFA.
It could have been held at the friggin Bescot Stadium with enough room the amount of fans allowed in.

I don't understand how the greed of these clubs exclude UEFA as also being greedy? Footballer is the Greedy Game.... everybody in it, be it Organisers, Leagues, Clubs, Managers, Players, Agents, Fans.... all greedy.kentonclaret wrote: ↑Thu May 13, 2021 12:41 pmAstonishing that comments are being bandied around about the "Greed" of UEFA, when two weeks ago both of these clubs were part of a conspiracy to form a breakaway league and fill their own coffers at the expense of the rest of the football pyramid.

Re: Champions League final venue confirmed
What it shows is UEFA priorities - sponsors and officials over fans of the two clubs.
I'm not saying it's wrong because the sponsors have put in their money that has made the competition what it is and for UEFA officials I presume it is part of their 'emoluments' - good words eh! That is where we are with today's football.
The FA Cup Final used to be the same. Volunteer workers from the various local FAs getting tickets - do they still do this?

Re: Champions League final venue confirmed
Just being reported that Portugal are planning to BAN all UK travellers....how can this be changed just for the supporters travelling?
Re: Champions League final venue confirmed
BBC are reporting that fans will be expected to fly in and out the same day on official chartered travel, and stay in a "bubble". Sounds enjoyable!
