Shopping at Bournemouth
Heard a rumour,we are after Brooks,Billing and Adam Smith.Would be happy with that!
Re: Shopping at Bournemouth
Can’t see them selling if they come back up plus it whether they suddenly inflate the value of the players.
Re: Shopping at Bournemouth
Would definitely take Brooks, not sure the other two are any better than what we already have.

Re: Shopping at Bournemouth
Thing is here, Bournemouth won’t NEED to sell.... so all hopes of a bargain can be quickly dismissed. Add that to the fact their players will be very well paid and you can see where this is likely to be going...

I would suggest that there is a greater chance of them still being in the championship
next season than not.
Time will tell however.

Re: Shopping at Bournemouth
I'd have Solanke here, wrote off very early after moving for a lot of money, was forced to learn on the job as a youngster in a relegated side, he just needed consistent games and time to develop, 15 goals and 12 assists this season in 40 apps.

I thought that OP was referring to the fact that Debenhams is closing down. Along with the fact that Beales has already closed, Bournemouth town centre is in a sorry state. Mark’s and Spencers and various other retailers have also gone. Where will it all end? It’s becoming a ghost town.

There is a quality mens outfitters opposite where you catch the bus to Dean Court, similar to Scruples at Barrowford and just as ostentatious
There will be plenty of jewellery/pawn shops that sell 2nd hand Rolexs as well no doubt

I was expecting Brooks, like Wilson, to tear up the Championship. It’s never really happened for either of them, but that probably means it’s a good time to buy.
I really like Billing, would love him here. Have always thought he stepped it up when playing us too, so hopefully he’s been out to impress Dyche.

We were certainly interested in bringing in Adam Smith and I think Lewis Cook?? West Yorkshire lad. Last summer.
But we probably make contact with at least 20 players a summer.

Re: Shopping at Bournemouth
Virtually every major store has closed down in Bournemouth. I think there's just House of Fraser left. Nothing really in Bournemouth town centre to attract shoppers any more (unless you enjoy being pestered by beggars or like the thought of dodging umpteen kids on skateboards!). There is still a Marks and Spencer but it's at Castlepoint, an out of town retail park.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun May 16, 2021 2:04 pmM&S gone? My mum used to rate a town on the quality of its M&S.

TONY we still have a "small" M and S out here in Christchurch we try not to associate too much with Bournemouth across the river but sadly got drawn into them re council
Can see us going for those 3 Smithy i fear has had his day Brooks hasn't really done much this year although came back from injury Big Phil- Billing is the one i would want has been very good since switching to the number 10 role A lot will depend on playoffs starting tomorrow against Brentford

Re: Shopping at Bournemouth
I remember my mum visiting somewhere years ago, Exeter comes to mind. I asked her what the place was like and she said: “It has a lovely Marks.”
Billing has apparently had a good season. When he’s played against us he’s looked lazy and just the sort of midfielder that wouldn’t fit a Dyche team.
Brooks had a long term injury and that can cause problems going forward. Smith was a player Howe was keen to sign for us, he’d had him on loan at Bournemouth in bist first spell there as manager and then signed him.

Re: Shopping at Bournemouth
You're right, but he was 21 year old, sold for a big fee and thrust into it. He'd come off 2 years of not playing at Liverpool, straight into a relegated side. At 21 years old it should've been about gametime and development with little pressure, which other 21 year old striker is ripping it up in the PL?
Ivan Toney is 2-3 years older, Toney has had 6 loans in his career, Solanke 1.

Back in the 80s I had family who lived in Bournemouth, and after a night out at Harry Redknapps Gaff (lorenzoes ) we would as always go down to Fortes in Bournemouth for our breakfast.
Does anyone know if Fortes is still there? I seem to think it was in the block where the posh gents outfitters is opposite the bus stops

Apologies for jumping in on a B’mouth thread but Everton are rumoured to be selling Holgate to fund signings. Is he good enough to replace Tarks, if needed?

He's a modern player with pace and tidy touch but he hasn't nailed a spot down. Not good enough at right back or centre half.

Talking of Everton/Bournemouth, King will be available on a free in Summer. Think he can play left too, so that wouldn’t be a bad signing.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Sun May 16, 2021 8:42 pmNo.

Re: Shopping at Bournemouth
I was really referring to league games for both Huddersfield and Bournemouth rather than a cup game when clearly our interests were elsewhere.
Re: Shopping at Bournemouth
I liked the look of Billing when he first entered the scene at Huddersfield but tend to agree with CT. He seemed to play with a languid demeanour in later games. Not seen him last season. Maybe he's got his combative edge back?

Re: Shopping at Bournemouth
I know a life long Bournemouth fan who tells me all is not well within the club financially. He was not hopeful of beating Brentford in the play-offs and felt that Woodgate would go if they did not gain promotion. He said the club was bleeding because of the salary bill, and as you know attendances have a max capacity of circa 11,000. I took him seriously as he is the owner of a non league club and sits on the league committee. It could therefore be a good place to get players from. I think King is unlikely to stay at Everton as he gets little game time, and would be on a free

Re: Shopping at Bournemouth
King actually left Bournemouth on a permanent deal and I think they only got £500,000 for him when he signed for Everton in a deal until the end of the season. He's made 11 appearances for Everton but all as a substitute.warksclaret wrote: ↑Mon May 17, 2021 11:54 amI know a life long Bournemouth fan who tells me all is not well within the club financially. On the subject of Woodgate, he did well when placed in caretaker charge and that won him a deal, surprisingly though only until the end of the season. As for the finances at Bournemouth. The wage bill must have dropped dramatically from last season with the player departures and aren't they wealthy enough with Demin?

Re: Shopping at Bournemouth
According to family and friends who follow Bournemouth, they are far from wealthy. Apparently if they don't go straight back up, Demin is due to be repaid a considerable sum to reduce the debt owed to him (supposedly well over £100m). As has been said previously, they will almost certainly have to sell players.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon May 17, 2021 11:59 amKing actually left Bournemouth on a permanent deal and I think they only got £500,000 for him when he signed for Everton in a deal until the end of the season. Didn’t realise the situation was like that. I suppose it highlights the problems of relying on an owner who puts in the money as loans.Paulclaret wrote: ↑Mon May 17, 2021 2:03 pmAccording to family and friends who follow Bournemouth, they are far from wealthy. More likely that we will be shopping at Palace
Clyne, McCarthy, McArthur, Ward, Cahill, Hennessey, Dann, Kelly, Wickham, Schlupp, Sakho and Lionel Ritchie
Our transfer team will be positively drooling over that lot

Tbf he was only up against Benson and Stephens! I think he's definitely got potential though, we're really lacking presence in the middle of the park.

He did well in the cup but I also think he played well against us in the PL season before last. If you recall, he scored but it was ruled out for handball - came off his shoulder and would have been given this year with the rule change.
I like him because he's a big lad but decent in the tackle and can pass - I thought he'd suit our system well. That said, we seem to be relying a lot less on set plays these days so maybe not. And I have only really watched him closely against us.
Re: Shopping at Bournemouth
Always where Vydra is concerned, unlike some who seem to get very upset when other posters mark his player ratings higher than they do
