Lee Mason
Re: Lee Mason
Not as good news as it sounds. He's going to VAR permanently.

Re: Lee Mason
Not quite unfortunately. He’s going to become PGMOL’s first dedicated VAR referee.
Tonight is his first Premier League since the free kick balls up when Dunk’s goal for Brighton at West Brom was disallowed. Tonight is also his last on the pitch.

Re: Lee Mason
Easily swayed or just inept ?
Either way, an incredibly poor decision to keep this bloke anywhere near decision-making.

Who'd be a Ref?

It’s all about being in the “club” . Jobs for each other.

Re: Lee Mason
Yes saw this news earlier, alas he's going to VAR so he'll still be making a hash of decisions, however when he's on VAR they'll be nobody to even overrule him if and more likely when he makes a big error.
Look on the bright side Mason going upstairs will just allow that wonderful new bloke Robert Jones to be given even more fixtures next season.

Re: Lee Mason
It makes sense to me to have one or two Ref's dedicated to handle the VAR Technology just not Lee b****y Mason as one of them.

Re: Lee Mason
Wasn't Mason the ref in a home game against Preston when they handballed it on the line in the first minute and he didn't give anything?

We shouldn’t. He has far too much power.

Re: Lee Mason
I've not idea what he does now tbh, for me though he's the best ref we've had in the last 30 years and our current crop bar a couple are dreadful.
Is Mike Riley still in charge of it all ? He was hardly a great ref either
Re: Lee Mason
Are they going to make him sit miles away from the tv screen when he’s on his VAR role? Cos that’s the distance he usually makes all his decisions from.

VAR is the prems way of retaining the sway over who wins. I.e. protect the clubs who are 'fashionable' worldwide.
