Very nice, but if you want proof that Burnley fans will complain about anything, the Burnley shirt should be in the centre on those pics.

With the increased difficulty in getting work permits for EU players. Expanding Scouting in areas where we dont need them seems like a very good idea.
But... fans dislike half and half scarfs... what will the reaction be to one split 5 ways!?!

I've family in Cobh, so come on you Ramblers.
Roy Keanes first club as well, as testified by the many photos around the club house.
I'm not sure how this will work, unless their scouting is better than our own, unlikely, or will we help them scoop up better players to trial, and how do we do that without investing our capital.
Dont want to sound negative, but no point planting trees, unless they bear fruit, and on the face it looks a long shot.

If we help clubs grow, they can attract better players for youth set ups etc.
Micheal Owen played at school level in the North Wales area, Hawarden in Flintshire, best player my brother faced at that level and my brother was being watched by City at the time so he wasn't shabby either.
If we have better connections in areas, we may have a chance of getting better youth players.

As i said in my post, Roy Keane played for Cobh, but players of his ability come around once in a generation, if lucky, for all the clubs we are linking up with. They still need to compete with much bigger clubs around them, to find talent. I hope I'm wrong, I really do, and whilst it's a good exercise in raising friendship and media awareness around the Isles, I'll be amazed if it provides us with one player half as good as Keane.

We don't need a Roy Keane.
I'd take a Stephen Ireland ability wise, just need to check how many times their nan has died first.

But saying 'Britain and Ireland' would be wrong as that doesn't include Northern Ireland. They have used the correct term, you haven't.

We are talking islands here. Ireland is the name of the island, which includes Northern Ireland. Britain is the name of the island that includes England, Wales and Scotland.
The `British Isles' isn't an official term at all - just something that people use.

Stephen Ireland played for Cork City, but he was actually born in Cobh.
As well as their nan, you need to find out how old the pregnant girlfriend is.

Interestingly Ayr mention:
Our U16’s are eagerly looking forward to the Barnfield Festival on the 22nd / 23rd May and an experience like this will help shape and mould our future players.
https://ayrunitedfc.co.uk/ayr-united-an ... th-burnley
Cobh ramblers said much the same as the first two:
http://cobhramblers.ie/cobh-ramblers-to ... urnley-fc/
Portadown's was different to the two others which were very similar:
https://portadownfc.co.uk/2021/05/20/po ... e-burnley/
Llandudno's website isn't very up to date but looking at the picture of the pitch it reminded me of Squires Gate.
Reading between the lines this gives the AiScout finds the chance of joining 5 academies with similar coaching standards with the potential to end up at Burnley if they do well. It's been hard to get players out to league clubs in the past so I suppose it's good to have the opportunityfor them to get some men's football under their belt.

I would hope that this wouldn't necessarily be a case of our acquiring players from, say, Cobh, but may be more along the basis of:-
Llandudno official: "There's a good young kid playing for Rhyl that might be worth a punt"
Burnley Official: after having looked at the young kid and agreeing that he has potential: "OK, we'll try and get him signed up and then out to you on loan until he gets old/good enough to send to Ayr/our U-21's"

Your suggestion of 'Britain and Ireland' is no more accurate or 'official' than saying 'The British Isles'. The area is known as the British Isles whether you like it or not. It is just a geographical reference that captures the land masses and immediate islands of the UK and Ireland.
'Ireland' is a separate country, and is the commonly used name for the Republic of Ireland. Someone from Belfast doesn't live in 'Ireland', they live in 'Northern Ireland'.
The correct wording in 'official' terms I think would have been 'UK and Ireland'.
It's no big deal, I just thought it was sad that you were having a dig at BFC about something so trivial in the scheme of this exciting new partnership, when in reality you aren't right anyway!

Wow, you certainly can't say that AP and his team lack ideas or urgency - they're really cracking on.
I imagine this is to help ensure we have a network of clubs to support AiScout and its processes, and in return offer friendlies and other opportunities for their clubs. It may or may not prove beneficial in the long term but it's very positive that we are trying these new ideas.

I'm not really having a dig as it is a decent scheme. I just think the term British Isles is redundant - no part of Ireland belongs to Britain - neither geographically nor politically. Culturally, yes.

Copied the below from the Rams site and you are on the right lines, it appears.
“In return Burnley will widen its scouting network for talent identification in the partner clubs’ region, with the most talented young players from each club travelling regularly to Burnley for football camps and assessment when identified.”

Fair enough, I can see your point even though I don't agree with changing a name that has existed for over 400 hundred years, and long before Ireland was part of the UK and then broke away again. It might be a historic term but it is still widely used today. Maybe you should run with Atlantic Archipelago.

I’m really can’t see what the grumbling is about.
In essence, we’ll have four unofficial academies across the UK and Ireland, running alongside Barnfield and AI. Our pool of knowledge and player recruitment potential will increase dramatically.
Darren Bentley responded on Twitter to say this is only Phase 1, and Phase 2 will be building links with clubs in Europe.
Credit to Pace and ALK. This should have been done years ago.

Being affiliated and supported by BFC in coaching skills will attract better youngsters into applying for those academies. They will see that playing for Llandudno, Cobh, Portadown or Ayr will give them a chance to be scouted by a Premier League club with a good chance of a trial spell at our Academy or of receiving coaching from our coaching team. All four clubs will now have a vastly raised profile in their catchment areas.

Anachronistic? It's been in place since 1801, or 1541, or the twelfth century, depending on your point of view.

In Britain and most of the world it’s still known as ‘British Isles’ and in Ireland it’s known as ‘Britain and Ireland’. There really is no issue in the wording used.
As for this partnership, it can only be a good thing.

Great move. Not uncommon in the football but certainly not as common as in the US. So a clear vision from our new board.
I said this at the time when people were critical of American ownership, but there's a lot of endeavors they successfully use in sport there that can make its way to the UK.
In baseball for example, the top teams have many, many affiliates. My local town is affiliated with the LA Dodgers and its just a small semi-pro team in a local league.
