I've been looking through the threads to see if anyone had posted this.

It all sounds very positive. Let's hope so.

Really impressed with AP so far. Visible changes are being implemented, lets hope that the proof is in the pudding as he says.

Pace’s key message to the media was he was going to try and support Dyche in the way Dyche wants supporting .
As a fan , the message to Pace then is that if this is going to be the mutual partnership you want then allow Dyche to keep Pope if that’s what Dyche wants to do.
I like what Pace has to say so far and as Pace said the proof of the pudding is in the eating. That time will come very soon on outgoings from the club

This new comer and relative outsider speaks so well and with a real passion for the club and manager, and with the regards to the ratter can only be a good thing going forwards.
He seems to have really tried to understand the club, the town and it's people, it's really hard not to warm to him.

A stark contrast to the previous regime who we were regularly told was a local man, a fan and someone who loved the club with a passion that was engrained in him.

But as he says the proof will be in the pudding, but so far, so much better than many expected or were used too.

For an “outsider” he really seems to get it. If he backs all that up it won’t be long before he’s an “insider”.

He says all the right things and I really want to like him.

But for some reason I just don’t trust him. Kind of like a car salesman.

We already knew he was good at interviews - which is fine and a positive. Let's see where we stand on August 31st.

Speaks well, as usual. As others have said, let's see where we are at the end of the window...but sounds like he will do whatever he possibly can to keep Dyche happy which is a good thing.

Can't help but feel the naivety implicit in this bit is a little concerning:

"I learned quite a bit in the first transfer window, we came a day before that window opened. This isn't Fantasy Football, I can't just say: We'd like this player, let's go and get them. There's a lot of people involved in it and it's a lot more challenging than people really take into consideration. We've learned from some of that and hopefully we won't make some of the same mistakes, it wasn't like we weren't trying to get players before it just wasn't as successful as we would have liked."


Not quite in the same league as the Venkys thinking there was no PL relegation, but still, it doesn't exactly set one's mouth watering at this summer's new signing prospects!

I think (suspect) that what he's referring to is that we went in for some players in January only to find that the selling clubs wanted to inflate the price and we balked, especially if SD told the new board we probably had enough already to get us home this year. The problem is those prices were probably inflated largely because it was common knowledge that we had a new board and potentially money to invest on the playing side. That will still be the case and Pace unfortunately is more or less telling the world as much and that means people could be queuing up to have our trousers down, or we simply try for a whole host of players and end up pulling out of every one. Getting value isn't going to be easy when the rest of the country know we're desperate for new blood and we have money available.

I think he made it very clear that there are some funds available but it is limited.

In all fairness, he's hardly going to say anything in an interview with Sky Sports - and quite right.

Both Dyche and Pace have certainly mentioned about 'layering up' and 'stretching the finances'. But we don't have a sugar daddy - it's about competing in the transfer market with clubs around us in the table and helping the manager progress us.

Given how the last 12-18 months have gone, I would suggest that if Dyche chooses to stay and help rebuild, he is happy with how the owner is supporting him.

From this & Dyche interviews recently, it sounds like we're gonna be getting in our next generation players that'll start taking over more senior players over the next few seasons. I'm not expecting lots of transfers but some 'urgent' positons will be filled. To me, that's creativity positions so wingers and centre mid as we need to start looking at replacing Brady, JGB, Barnes, Jay & the centre mid players. Over the next 12/18 months months I'd expect these to be replaced with younger, more exciting players. If Tarks goes then a direct replacement for him will be needed this Summer too, someone with experience who can slip right in with Mee. Don't think Pope or Dwight will go. They are key for taking us forward and would hope we can entice them to stay showing some ambition with the new recruitment. Tarks we can replace more easily with some Dyche training.

It'd be nice to see us replace Tarks with 2 centre backs. One experienced defender who can slot straight into the team and a promising youngster who can learn his trade to keep in reserve in case of injury/suspension.

Gibson needs replacing. And Dunne looks like he's leaving too. So we need a centre half even if Tarky stays - two if he leaves.

He speaks very well but it's very easy to talk (unless you're named Mike Garlick), he said his first priority was the January transfer window and look how that turned out. I look forward to seeing where the finances come from to fund Dyche's spending, hopefully not from MSD.

He comes across as a warm character, who will endeavour to deliver as stated.
