While morally I'm not keen on being sponsored by a betting company, I also acknowledge the club looses out if I don't buy a shirt and depending on what it looks like I might want one.
It's a bit like cutting my nose off to spite my face.

Not sure how you can justify not buying a shirt that displays the logo but then will sit in a ground full of new LED screens showing the logo every 2 minutes.

To be fair les you are describing thousands of modern day fans.

Nearly everyone I know streams games instead of paying for them

If that’s your definition of a supporter then you are describing probably a very very small percentage.

I imagine there are hundreds of thousands of Burnley fans around the world. Not all can financially contribute due to various reason and not all would want to given things such as the debt we have, the sponsors etc…

different definition of supporter is all - you are a financial contributor, I am not apart from my TV licence - the BBC pays football over £300m a year

The sponsorship deal is just emblematic of my refusal to contribute, as are the wages, transfer fees, and greed of the biggest clubs that have driven the game to where people are happy to have their clubs owned by states, Oligarchs and businessmen who may have not actually invested anything other than time into the club (and they may even charge for that too) and then raise prices so that punters can service the loans they took out to buy it and cover their costs. None of these owners had much of a previous attachment to these clubs or areas they are in

I absolutely get the dislike of betting companies, and the misery that betting can bring, and the destruction it can do.

But I appreciate that at the moment, betting companies pay the most. I think we all know Pace would prefer a different sponsor, and perhaps in the near future, that will be the case.

But, I have a far, far bigger issue with alcohol and the advertisement of alcohol in the game. Heineken, Budweiser, Amstel, Carling.. the list is endless over the years.

From my perspective, alcohol (and drugs) are the driving force behind the majority of crime, be it domestics, fights, shoplifting, mental health crises etc.

Greed, that's the driving force behind all the crimes on your list. Obviously mental health is a different matter.

Cheer up, Les, I'll buy you a keyring or something from the club shop if we bump into each other on the Turf next month.

You could give the key ring to Chester. If you drop it at his house, you could watch Burnley v Brighton on a illegal stream, and complain about our shirt sponsor

Not quite reached your stage yet but I’ve certainly calmed down with my contribution over the years, I just put it down to the club no longer needing me to own everything stocked in the shop… But yes, there is a lack of intimacy compared to the old days, even our famously town/club feels corporate and soulless; but that is also efficiency and all we applaud it unfortunately, it is needed. I wouldn’t swap our success for the club, but I don’t feel close to it anymore.

I am the same my contribution is going to be next to nothing this season especially after the takeover.

Another new Umbro kit released - This time "the world's second favourite team" Chapecoense. I would be happy if that was our kit template ngl.

This is an impassioned piece about the new shirt sponsor

Does anyone have the stats to say how many burnleybfans have used data bet. Love bet and the like?

I like the odd bet now and then. And genuinely have never used any gambling sponsor we have been associated with other than Ladbroke and that’s zero to do with the fact they supported Burnley.

Also for all those against it. What viable alternatives can they recommend before they start discouraging the club from exploring such lucrative revenue streams when we are already at a huge commercial disadvantage to almost every other club in this league and plenty more in leagues below it.

I hope they are campaigning to ban Holland’s pies. Benedictine. And all other such businesses associated with the club.

Burnley fc. In association with central gym.

The vast majority can control their alcohol intake so I’m not sure how far you can go with this. Then where does it stop ? Would we ban Holland’s Pies advertising because a few fans are glutinous and likely to have a heart attack although the majority can enjoy just the odd one and so on……. Coke …. Energy drinks …e cigs …

Sweets… Cars for burning fossil fuels… and don’t even start me on the role social media plays in damaging young people’s mental health…

Basically folk could find most businesses/sectors unethical to some degree or other, it just depends how strongly you feel about that particular issue.

The shirt looks great. I find the quality of the Umbro shirts a bit pap though, so disappointed there's another 4 years of them.

Initially thought the sleeves were a bit teaclothlike but I actually like this. Not training gear at all. Not a bad kit at all. Some people whinge at anything and they probably don’t buy the kits anyway.
