BT are making a big deal about all this but I think they are contractually obliged to do this - particularly the Champions League final, which it has always been free to view
Re: Europa & Champs League finals free on Virgin Media
Kick off 8pm tonight.
Re: Europa & Champs League finals free on Virgin Media
Following the breakaway attempt by 12 leading English and European clubs, the Premier League and the Champions League and the Europa League no longer have a mandate to be, nor any long-term credibility for any kind of investment sustainability because the actual game of football and its interest as both a participating and spectator sport is not the current remit for marketing football as an entertainment.
Instead tertiary interests about the sport rather than the sport itself, are now the market product and with naturally disastrous results.
It is an entertainment product-marketing attempt to sell the Emperors New Clothes of the sport whilst taking the actual sport away and leaving just the marketing itself instead of the product.
Sooner or later that strategy is going to fail and it is now in the process of that farce, as witnessed by an attempted breakaway for a European League of total folly.
FIFA have already lost confidence in the World Cup evidenced in their continued meddling with the format, in progress at this moment
The introduction of the European Nations League; evidences the same lack of faith in the actual entertainment product.
The attempt to reduce the game further with VAR in order to make it a who-done-it trick-or-treat affair for real-time in and out of play betting, evidences malignant parasites intending to fleece the game of its status whilst milking football dry to international destruction.
The asset stripping and the spiral of debt and the financial greed are totally eclipsing the sport.
The English F.A. must radically re-think their very reason for being and whether to go down with the ship or mutiny or abandon ship.
This must be done with respect to being carbon footprint savvy and with respect to a Post-Covid awareness of real geography.

Farting around at the back led to that goal.......again.
De Gea was more interested in avoiding the post than saving that.
OGS... not happy, just put a rocket up Cavani's arse.

Re: Europa & Champs League finals free on Virgin Media
Unai Emery is sticking both fingers up to the PL following his sacking by Arsenal, he gained revenge for that in the semi-finals, and his Villarreal side are doing a number on Man Utd here, this cup is his speciality though after his success with Sevilla on numerous occasions.
Utd need to quickly wake from their slumbers if Ole is going to claim his 1st major trophy 22 years to the day since his heroics in Barcelona.
Utd denied what looked a good shout for a penalty now, do you ever get the feeling it's going to be one of those nights for them.
Perhaps not that man Cavani pops up with a vital goal.

Re: Europa & Champs League finals free on Virgin Media
Rashford's been poor tonight, and on this display he'll be fortunate to retain his England place for the Euro's.
And he's just missed a sitter from 8 yards out when it looked easier to score. imagine the reaction on here if Vyrda or Wood has missed such a golden chance, just shows all strikers can have their off days.
Scott McTominay has been outstanding 2nd half for Utd, and it's great to see a home grown player strutting his stuff on the big stage.

I thought the use of VAR here was bad but it seems worse in Europe.

Re: Europa & Champs League finals free on Virgin Media
Yep 90 minutes done and still no subs from Ole what on earth is he thinking. This game is there for the taking if Utd buck up their ideas, Pogba in particular has been strolling through the match when some urgency is required, this is why he can frustrate the hell out of managers and supporters he's got all the talent in the world, but sometimes he just goes missing in the big games.

They haven't been that good, and why both haven't been hauled off only OGS knows, it's not like he doesn't have options on the bench.

Villarreal seem to want to try and dribble or short pass it into the net. This often seems to be the Spanish way. They just need to take a shot sometimes and quicker.

5-5 after the initial kicks sudden death now who's going to be the villain or hero.
6-6 this could be a long night at this rate.

Re: Europa & Champs League finals free on Virgin Media
De Gea is the villain 11-10 to Villarreal, and Emery wins the EL again.
United only have themselves to blame they didn't do enough in the 120 minutes to merit a victory, and once it goes to pens it's a toss of the coin.

Bit of justice there after De Gea tried all he could to put the opposition off.

Re: Europa & Champs League finals free on Virgin Media
Has there ever been a worse goalkeeping performance in a shootout? 11 missed saves and then a missed shot. Hardly came close with any, just one I think.
Huge balls up by Ole, De Gea hasn’t saved a penalty for over six years in the PL. Whereas Henderson’s record is almost 50% in all competitions
Not just him though, Pogba and the vastly overrated Rashford both appalling..
