Len Badger RIP

Post by Ashingtonclaret46 » Sat May 22, 2021 10:34 pm

Sad to read today that Len Badger has passed away aged 75.
He played 541 matches for the Blades and played for England at every level except for the senior team, although he was a member of Alf Ramsey's 'Shadow Squad' in 1966. He was a very good full back, however, he suffered the same fate as our own John Angus when it came to national recognition ---there were just so many good full backs around at the time!
He finished his career with a short spell at Chesterfield, however, he was a Blade through and through.
Good bloke, a bit of a character with a great sense of humour. RIP Len Badger

Sad news indeed Ashington. That’s when they made “proper” full backs. RIP Len.

RIP Len. I’m sure there will be a tribute before tomorrows game. He earned one.

Passed away on Thursday and was in the Sheffield United team that won promotion in the early 60s and played a hell of a lot of games for them. Excellent player.

I would think there will be a minute's silence or applause ahead of kick off tomorrow.

That is sad news I saw Len Badger play a few times, once at the 3 sided Bramhall Lane and he was one of my football cards and chewing gum collection. R.I.P., an old school legend.

Always remember Badger and Hockey (who died very young) being in the same Sheffield Utd side: great names
