Well done lads

Post by Vegas Claret » Sun May 23, 2021 6:00 pm

Tough season, job done, simple as that. Let's not lose sight of the fact how much we punch above our weight.

Over to Mr Pace to give them a huge helping hand in the summer

Yep. Not gonna get too disheartened by that. I think this squad put in such an effort to get over the line that there was inevitably going to be a dip. Just a shame that we couldn’t put in half a performance against a v poor side today. Oh well. Thank god the season’s over and here’s to a good summer!

Along with United and Newcastle won me a 30/1 treble so I will take it 😅

Whilst we've done well to stay up considering everything, the rate at which we've gone backwards leaves us in a precarious position. If we go backwards anymore, we'll drop now. Simple as that.

Big summer ahead of us. Transfer embargo needs lifting.

We’d have all taken the finishing position at any point this season considering our struggles, without a doubt.

All eyes now on ALK - there are no excuses. We need to bring a lot of players in, and we really do need to be targeting a younger age predominantly with them (expensive in itself).

Less expensive in the long run, if we target players that will be expected to increase in value.

We had our dips at the right parts of the season - at the very start and at the very end once we were safe.

We were pretty good in between.

Agreed. Hopefully some sort of normality come August with fans back in and most games being played at a sensible time on a sensible day.

No complaints from me.

I have enjoyed this season and a big pat on the back to the lads, who have been ******* in the wind for years now due to the lack of investment.

Made lockdown far more durable for me being able to watch the clarets every week

Well done to most of the lads.
It was a team effort overall to overcome a very poor start.
Luckily the three teams who were relegated also had poor starts
and couldn't recover whilst we did.
I think the fact that 29 points would have kept us up suggests
how poor the bottom three were even though we could only muster
4/5 points against them.

Be interesting to see whether Dyche decides to be ruthless
and let two or three go who have struggled to make much of a contribution.
I'm thinking Brady, JBG, Barnes in particular
If so we'll need 5/6 coming in.

That's going to be difficult but probably necessary
.

Hopefully feel better about it in a few days, but it's took it's toll more than any other season.
Probably as the highs of winning at Arsenal, Liverpool, Everton and Wolves were so high.

But the home record is so poor, along with some of the performances that have offered nothing.

Only take one good signing to change the mood.

Tough season, so soon after the end of other disjointed season.

Large number of games in a short space of time took its toll, but the excellent recruitment from previous seasons meant Dyche had a team willing to give everything they had for him with zero discontent if they had to play out of position or wait their turn on the bench etc.

We've also been forced to blood some younger players and that hasn't been a bad thing, as again it will show where they are in development and how are academy/youth set up is

Some new players clearly needed and if anything this season has helped highlight what needs to be done.

A proper break for the entire squad pretty much and a proper preseason will do us the world of good.

As the OP says, very well done to the lads and management. They really have had a tough season with such a small squad but, somehow managed to stay up.

As for the season itself, I've got to say I haven't really enjoyed it. I thought being able to see every game on TV was going to be great but I'd sooner see 2/3rds of the season from within grounds. Even the great wins at Liverpool and Arsenal left me feeling happy for the victories, of course, but gutted that we couldn't be there and they won't stick in my mind in the future.

Let's see what Mr Pace and the summer brings and let's all get back in the grounds next season.

Great effort to stay up I imagine a few of the squad played through the season not fully fit. Hopefully a proper pre season and being more proactive in the transfer market will see an exciting season when we hopefully all return to the turf in August.

I think Sean has already laid bare what we can expect in the transfer window. Nothing radical, and he hopes for more than the £750,000 he sp**ked on the useless and geriatric Dale Stephens. With this in mind, I’m already prepared for another poor window. Hope I’m wrong or we will drop next time otherwise.

Fantastic effort this season. Once we got out of the bottom three I never doubted that we would stay up because of the intelligence of our manager and the mindset of the players. We proved we were capable of some vibrant displays, as well as our usual attritional fare, but we also threw in a higher proportion of poor displays because of depletion, fatigue and the age of the squad. We all know that the squad needs refreshment and that this will not fully happen in one window, so I expect next season to be an equally tough challenge. I think we will rise to it though!

Agreed. Disappointing last 3 games, but foot off the accelerator after the win at Fulham. Had we needed a win yday for survival, we’d have got it...

I think not. We just don't win the last match of the season. How does that fit with Sean's 'mentality'.
