Forest Green-Newport
2nd leg just started, Newport enjoy a 2-0 buffer from their home leg, winners of course play Morecambe in the final.

These play offs aren't disappointing are they, drama in every tie, and comebacks galore.

Re: Forest Green-Newport
Yep! a heck of a 2nd leg by FGR, now can they see it out. 3 shots on target and 3 goals that's what you call clinical finishing.

These play-off games just keep getting crazier, what an impact Kevin Ellison has had from the bench.

This will go down as one of the play-off classics, ET looming surely there can't be another twist can there.

Re: Forest Green-Newport
funny how Newport scored out of nothing when they weren't creating anything and the FGR did exactly the same when the game looked dead for them

Re: Forest Green-Newport
No but this is proper footy at it's rawest, and it has an edge because of what's at stake, something which a ESL with meaningless games can never match.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Sun May 23, 2021 8:24 pmand the sad thing is loads of people won't even know about it because it's not PL
ET can't be as exciting can it, I'm running out fingers to keep count. TBH it wouldn't surprise me if it went all the way to pens, they are so evenly matched that's what it might take to find a winner.

Re: Forest Green-Newport
totally agree, quality might be bang average but I do enjoy watching the lower leagues (and non league) more than 80% of the PL gamestiger76 wrote: ↑Sun May 23, 2021 8:33 pmNo but this is proper footy at it's rawest, and it has an edge because of what's at stake, something which a ESL with meaningless games can never match.

Anyone know if there are highlights of this on later? Sounds most enjoyable.
Re: Forest Green-Newport
Do away goals count after extra time or is it penalties?

Re: Forest Green-Newport
Think its penalties.
Don't think away goals are involved at all.

Re: Forest Green-Newport
Nope away goals don't count double in the play-offs. So if it stays as is it'll be the lottery of pens.ElectroClaret wrote: ↑Sun May 23, 2021 8:50 pmThink its penalties.

Normally the EFL stuff is on Quest, but I can't see any footy on there tonight, you might be able to get some highlights on YT if you're lucky EC.ElectroClaret wrote: ↑Sun May 23, 2021 8:37 pmAnyone know if there are highlights of this on later? Sounds most enjoyable.

So there was a sting in the tail after all. and Derek Adams will meet his former player after all, that'll be an interesting conservation to be a fly on the wall too.

Re: Forest Green-Newport
Cracking game of football in very wet conditions.
A reminder, if it were needed, of just how sterile the Premier League is becoming with different Laws and their interpretation so that they can pass the VAR test.
All just to get an appearance at Wemlbley in an attempt to win promotion to a league that we won promotion from in 1999/2000 ---yet our fans moan about us today!
Interesting final, I wonder if Kevin Ellison will score another cracker ---superb goal tonight!
