Why on earth would you expect ALK to do that? They are not a charity nor have they bought the club as a hobby.
ALK primarily invested in the club to turn a profit, if their investment in and subsequent management of Burnley FC (The business) is successful, then the club will be able to to repay or at least service (pay the annual interest on) that debt, along with paying hefty annual salaries/bonuses to the people who ALK appoint to manage/direct the club for them and ultimately provide a healthy return to ALK on their own original investment. I don't see how ALK could achieve all those aims without our remaining in the Premiership or at worst bouncing between the Premiership and Championship, so I have no doubt that this is what ALK are planning to do.
However, if ALK have got their plan wrong and we were to go down and stay down, then ???????? Has it been ten year's yet since things went pear shaped at Bolton?
Why would I expect ALK to pay for their own shares and not rely on the clubs future PL income to fund their purchase?
How does paying for their own shares make them a charity?

Which teams specifically are you envious of? Sunderland, Portsmouth, Wigan, Bradford, even perhaps Leeds, or how about Bolton, the money that they 'threw at it' put them ten years ahead of us. ;)
Classic ClaretsMad/UTB response.

Because clearly the only alternative to our current miserly approach is to ‘bet the ranch’ and end up in League 2.

I don’t think charity is the right word. But his statement is right. Why would ALK pay for something they can get for free. They are not here for any other reason than to take as much money out of the club as possible.

Not a lot we can do about it as I keep being told. We just have to hope it works out.

I liked him too. Wicked cross on him. Played about 30 games for Nimes and scored 4 goals/3 assists (or something like that). Not amazing stats but potentially hindered by the team. I thought he’d be a fantastic sun winger to throw on with 10 minutes to go with the order to get the crosses in to Woody.
Plus Nimes have now been relegated, so he could see the error of his ways

Apparently just put a bid in for 10m£ for Nathan Collins out of Stoke. That’s a serious improvement on our end from January when we bid 7m. Wow, but the market must be really inflated considering we got Wood for 15. What do y’all think of this?

IMO (and it is not worth much) these are the signings we should be looking at. However, if they keep inflating that #... I’m sure we will be gone.

I don't know about derisory but I, for one, am embarrassed.

I don’t think it’s an insulting bid. Before we were told that they wanted close to 10m in January 🤷🏻‍♂️

So, it sounds like we ponied up and they said, “you probably got more money.”

At the very least, if we can’t agree on that, it’s a good sign that we are bidding this early in the transfer market. That’s a very different approach than in years past.

Pretty decent bid. I'm surprised given he missed the second half of last season with injury. I thought we'd sign a more experienced cover (a Cahill, Dawson type) and see how he recovers from injury.

£20m is outrageous and if they are hanging out for that we should move on.

Yes. Quite unnerving all this bidding in the transfer market lark.

We'll be in for a right winger next.

Inc addons we were meant to pay £15 million for Gibson when we signed him 3 yrs ago.

I'd expect to pay a similar amount for this lad based on age, contract length etc.

I didn't really think anybody could be that fragile that they would feel embarrassed about a business trying to by an employee from another business, but then I have just seen the other thread on this and I was wrong :D

I don’t understand why people equate a good transfer window with how much is spent (Fulham). we need to buy the RIGHT players they can cost 50p for all I care. Clearly we will need to spend some money I can only imagine it won’t be close to the £40 mill some have mentioned unless we have a significant sale.
Agreed, it won't be anywhere near £40m without selling Tarky & Pope. Can see a CB for £10-12m, a CM or RW for £6m, a couple of OOC freebies & a couple of younger players to develop from lower leagues.

:D :D there really are still some out there who think the only expense to a club is a transfer fee.

This is how much we have spent on players (fees and wages) in the Premier League years (not including the season just finished or agents fees)

https://public.flourish.studio/visualisation/6253514/

£546m

who says - :KieranMaguire of Price of Football fame https://twitter.com/KieranMaguire/statu ... 1056884738

Which means that it is now probably in excess of £630m - but you go on thinking we have spent nothing - it is a shame you still haven't risen to this challenge

I would love to see a detailed analysis of this from you, with cost/revenue breakdowns and including the roadmap of all the other costs including a full list of assumptions and risks, bearing in mind each year your are planning budgets forward not looking back at results.
which was made against this post from you on the Prize money thread

We have made over £500m from our time in the Premier league and that makes our previous boards claim that we can't sign players due to no money ring a little hollow

Nothing derisory here, according to Football League World, Burnley have proposed a 9-figure sum for a Stoke player! I make that over £100,000,000.....unless they're including the pence figure, of course :)

Linked with a spanish rb named Juan Iglesias! Would be an interesting signing. Thoughts? Anyone seen him play?
