I had my life spoiled by a lecturer who downgraded my university applications because I said Bob Dylan was campfire music.
Mr 'counter culture' Bob Dylan is currently flogging his average illustration prints for millions for a piece of the pie at the expense of proper artists.

Phenomenal artist. Got some **** when he decided to plug the guitar in, but he rode thru it has been quite outstanding over the years.
The well known ones are great, like highway 61 and blonde on blonde, but my favourite? Infidels, closely followed by Blood on the Tracks. The track “senor” from street legal is genius. Some of his best work is on the lesser known albums.
Who would’ve thought he’d get to 80 when you consider how he used to spend his recreational time....
Happy birthday Bobby.

"Senor" is brilliant.
My favourite album is "Desire" , "Time Out Of Mind" and "Oh Mercy" are pretty good.

I was at the infamous "Judas!" concert in Manchester just two days before my 18th birthday. Burnley had qualified for Europe and the World Cup was just a few weeks away and I was lucky enough to be at Wembley to see England win. Of course "I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now!"

I’ve seen Dylan twice.
Once at the MEN when I was about 13 and dragged along by my dad and once at Blackpool winter gardens, as an adult and through choice.
At the MEN he was pretty dreadful but at Blackpool he was brilliant.
His voice was never brilliant and these days it’s utterly ridiculous but his lyrics are brilliant

Can we arrange for this fantastic song writer and poet to write a song for us for Eurovision. We have and have ahd some great bands in this country. Best in Europe but like us yesterday we got Null Points with a terrible song and non-entity of a performer.

Anthems of poverty him an Icon for yours or anyone else's?
You naked for his clothing as he sings about being naked for want of any?
... At a million quid a go?
Rhetorically, as an entertainer but surely nothing else.

I've seen Dylan 4 times. The first, Blackbushe, in July 1978, Bob Dylan was absolutely brilliant. Street Legal was his new album that year. Great support acts, also, including Eric Clapton, for the day long "picnic." Officially, over 200,000 there - it felt closer to 1 million. It took over 8 hours to get out of the carpark.
Next time was Hammersmith Odeon/Apollo. I forget the year, probably sometime in the 90s. He wasn't really interested that night.
Third time was Royal Albert Hall, October 2015 and he was very good.
My last time, was Hyde Park, July 2019, with Neil Young also on the bill. Bob was doing the old "you know the words but do you still know the song with a different tune" act. A full set, but I don't think he spoke a single word to the audience, just stood very straight and gave little bows from time to time. Again, a "not really interested" concert.
Bob Dylan is still one of the greatest song writers and troubadours or our times. I'm also lucky to have collected some of his "Drawn Blank" prints - which I first saw in the Art Shop, St James St, in Burnley in 2009.
Happy birthday, Bob Dylan. May you stay forever young.

A truly great songwriter but it must have done his head in when the Byrds kept doing better versions of his songs.

Happy Birthday Mr Zimmerman. I'll have a listen to The Hurricane shortly if that's OK with you!??
Oh and yes I saw him at Blackbushe where he was brilliant. Like others sleeping in the car, Ford Anglia with 3 other lads Oh what fun we had!

Three times for me. The legendary Blackbush concert and twice in Bournemouth, amazingly! 2011 and 2016, I think. The first one in Bournemouth featured a wonderful warmup set by Mark Knopfler. I was worried that Bob Dylan wasn’t going to match it but he did. Very theatrical with dramatic lighting. He was actually wearing spats! Voice may have been a little raspy but the backing group, especially Charlie Sexton, was so good that he carried it off. I live in Westbourne and so it was only a twenty minute walk there and back. As regards the Blackbush concert, my future wife was stuck in the car park for about eight hours like most others. I and a friend had turned up quite late and were directed to an adjacent field. I didn’t see much point in diving into the gridlocked traffic and so we settled down to sleep in the car. After a short while, someone tapped on the window and said that they had found a way out and asked us if we wanted to join a small ‘convoy’. I was back home and on the beach by the time the sun came up.
Happy days and Happy Birthday, Bob.

You never told me that, Dermot. You could have walked along with us to save having to park the car. Do remember the time we walked all the way to Dean Court to save me having to find somewhere to park only to find that there was bags of space in the car park after all. We had to jump on a bus on the way home as the walk was a little too much for Little Dermot. I hadn't been on a bus for donkey's years and, after that experience, I'm not likely to ever go on one ever again.

never liked him apart from one more cup of coffee and knocking on heavens door. even then I preferred cover versions.
I do not care for cryptic lyrics, I have no wish to debate possible meanings with pseudo intellectuals.
just write words that express the obvious to the people bob, rather than appeasing the smug poetry dullards.

Some great scenes in that film. Albert Grossman striking an impressive deal with impresario Tito Burns. Alan Price making an absolute tit of himself. Bob Dylan losing his rag with an arrogant hanger on and, best of all, his encounter the Lady Mayoress of London who, in front of her totally embarressed two sons, insists that he must come and visit them at Mansion House the next time he is in town.
