Shrewd Signings in 2020/21 Season
Who do we think have been some of the best signings this season. Obviously excludes us as we only made one. For me
Leicester-Forfana
West Ham-Coufal, Souchek, Lingard, Dawson
Saints-Wolcott
Newcastle-Wilson and Willock
Brighton-Wellbeck
Man Utd-Cavalli
WBA-Gallagher
Villa-Konsa,Cash and Watkins
Palace-Eze
Man City -Diaz
Fulham-Lookman and Andersen
I know some of these were big money, but some were shrewd business too. Are there any I have missed that were really good business

I forgot Lookman and Andersen at Fulham. Whilst the club got relegated these two stood out

Matty Cash for Villa. Was on our radar snd has been extremely good for them. Would’ve been a superb addition and this justifies exactly why we should still try to use the Championship to shop at!!

And potentially the best of the lot- Martinez at Villa.

Has Bale had a great season, when looking at the season as a whole, and by his previously high levels of performance?Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon May 24, 2021 8:00 pmI have picked three players

A couple of good mates who are regulars at Spurs (albeit on TV of course this season) haven't been bowled over by him and are somewhat undecided as to whether they’d want him again next season.

11 goals and 3 assists in 20 games is pretty good (especially given 4 of those were sub appearances)
Godfrey has also had a good season

I'd say Lingard, simply because it's so, so rare for Utd to let someone go who is actually any good and he's definitely had a good season and been a very shrewd acquisition. (Jonny Evans is the only other one I can think of off hand who has done really well after being jettisoned by Utd)

Re: Shrewd Signings in 2020/21 Season
Leeds had the option to permanently sign Meslier before this season started and at the age of only 21 this young French goalkeeper proved to be one of the top performers in the PL. At that age I’d call him a shrewd signing

For shrewd signings I agree with Fofana, Coufal, Souchek, Willock, and Dias.warksclaret wrote: ↑Mon May 24, 2021 7:13 pmWho do we think have been some of the best signings this season. Obviously excludes us as we only made one. For me

How can the others can be considered shrewd when they were either well known or performed poorly?

Utd wouldn't have finished second without cavani imo.....mentioned Tomas soucek on here way b4 West ham got him.. though Burnley wouldn't have stumped up enough.claretburns wrote: ↑Mon May 24, 2021 11:21 pmFor shrewd signings I agree with Fofana, Coufal, Souchek, Willock, and Dias.

I don't disagree he had a big impact on Utd but Cavani was a world renowned striker for over a decade before joining Utd, good signing yes, a shrewd signing possibly not as you knew what you would get from Cavani.

Along with Moyes running the ship well this is a big reason for WHU's success this year.
Shows what wise investment can do.
