Him and Lampard pretty much level favourites on William Hill, was 10/1 the other day.

Lampard has already said he doesn’t want it. Major rebuild needed there. They’ll end up with some guy recently retired from playing.

Hellish rebuilding job but plenty of money and plenty of base talent to build from . He must be very tempted and rightly so. I seriously hope we give him the investment our squad desperately needs to avoid almost certain relegation without it

Real test for the new team at Burnley here.
They need to sell their vision to Dyche, they need to provide him funds, and they need to give him a payrise - I suspect all would be required to get him to sign a new contract, but that's based on nothing other than my anxiety over the possibility of him leaving!

You would have hoped they have already sold their vision by nowjedi_master wrote: ↑Thu May 27, 2021 1:24 pmReal test for the new team at Burnley here.

That could well be the problem
Re: Crystal Palace contact Burnley over Dyche compensation fee
Had a quick look at their forum they mention Cooper a few times, Dychecand Hodgson very similar, perhaps they want more excitement .
I think it would end in tears if Dyche went, massive rebuilding required and with that comes extremely dull football whilst you consolidate, would he get time ?

Re: Crystal Palace contact Burnley over Dyche compensation fee
SD is in a win/win right now. Excellent contract at Burnley with loads of genuine "power" to go with his huge salary, plus the promise of money to spend on strengthening over the summer. BUT is it all a bit too late and having endured the same pretty crap season we've all endured and having pretty much reached breaking point last summer under the previous owners, does he feel it's all gone a bit stale after a massive (almost unheard of in football terms) 8 years? Has he already got one eye on the next opportunity and is suddenly open to good offers which present a realistic new challenge? IMO Palace would definitely be one of those IF could be assured of similar levels of control over signings and outgoings, academy etc. We'll see, but I really, really hope not!
Re: Crystal Palace contact Burnley over Dyche compensation fee
“ Dyche was first contacted by Palace in January about the possibility of succeeding Roy Hodgson.” is that classed as “tapping up” ? and against the rules.

With Crystal Palace finally now having a managerial vacancy it has come to the time where both Crystal Palace AND Burnley need to 'put up or shut up'.

Have they got into Europe in the last few seasons, for example?
They haven't even come close.

Re: Crystal Palace contact Burnley over Dyche compensation fee
This argument happens every time this is brought up. For me the question is as simple as, where is he going to get better resources.
If Palace is your answer then it is a more desirable role. Similarly if Burnley offer better resources then Burnley is a better role. Dyche has had minimal funds for this division and is pulling of miracles just to stay in the league. Do you not think it would be easier for Dyche if he had better resources? He is probably thinking to himself I have had two top ten finishes with no money, what could I achieve with more?

I've been told that, as yet, there has been no approach for Dyche. I'm not saying there won't be but right now I am still pretty confident that he will be staying at Burnley and that he could sign a new deal.

Woan would be at Palace as Dyche's assistant, not managing us. As for the 'better football', I'm in your camp, the results I'm sure would be worse and I would fear the drop in a year's time if anyone but Dyche was in charge.

Re: Crystal Palace contact Burnley over Dyche compensation fee
I dont think he would consider a move to palace as a step up. They aren't that good, and there will be all manner of shenanigans behind the scenes regarding money. frying pan /fire job.
If he were to leave us it would have to to a club with some real financial clout so that he could prove himself as a manager with top class players at his disposal. No point leaving Burnley then having to go cap in hand to beg for a bit of spending money to shore up another aging squad with the only difference being it in London.

Re: Crystal Palace contact Burnley over Dyche compensation fee
I'd be confident a different manager would get more out of our more technically gifted players. McNeil in particular has gone backwards since he came into the team under Dyche

It needs sorting ASAP as if a new man has to come in I'm sure no 2 managers have the same transfer targets.

I cannot agree with this more.
This has been a long standing rumour/concern for quite a while now and we have definitely reached the point of "Are you staying, yes or no". We need a really strong transfer window, we cannot need that PLUS a new manager going into June. It would be disastrous.

He hasn't been as good this season, I think we'd all agree on that, but to suggest he's declined since getting into the first team I just can't accept after the previous season and a half.

Re: Crystal Palace contact Burnley over Dyche compensation fee
If Zaha is rumoured to be wanted by Spurs then that would leave a massive hole in their side as the stats prove they struggle without him.
That would make any rebuilding job even harder if SD were to go there.

Very little actual football for the rags to report on, so this type of story is bound to get more air.
If it happens, it happens. Somehow, I doubt it will. ALK and Alan Pace in particular have stated openly just how much they admire Sean, and I'm sure that they will do everything they can to keep him. After all, if he's on £3.5 million as reported, that's nothing in the big scheme of things. I'm sure ALK will improve that this summer.

Re: Crystal Palace contact Burnley over Dyche compensation fee
Id bet the story is just a load of made up rubbish but anyone who thinks Dyche isn't easily capable of keeping Palace up next season regardless of if they lose Zaha or not clearly under estimates how good a manager he is.
I think the Palace situation would be perfect for Dyche if they wanted him as expectations would be low the first year and give Dyche 12 months with the kind of budget Palace has compared to us then getting them challenging for top half in season 2 would be no problem for him
