If you have to answer your own threads
it's because no one is listening to the rubbish you keep spouting whilst trying to sound intelligent.

Re: If you have to answer your own threads
maybe, but only if the thread creator is sole reader of that thread, the easy way to find that out is to look at the number of views, and even then it does not mean that persons contribution is not valid
I am speaking as someone who has probably contributed well over 6000 posts to a single thread and can make over 20 posts quite regularly without any other reply on it, sometimes well over 50 - that thread took around a year to garner any serious interest and now has anything between 2,000 and 10,000 views a week, it is not for everyone, but has found it's place amongst the rest.
The point I am trying to make is this is a forum that allows any member to have a voice within certain constraints without prejudice and that is a wholly wonderful thing to celebrate, cherish and nurture. It is not necessary to read everything, like everything. It is necessary to understand and accept that others can think differently to you, I encourage everyone to take advantage of having your thoughts challenged and grow into a better, more rounded version of yourself.

Re: If you have to answer your own threads
Is the OP trying to say that once you start a thread you shouldn't reply to it further?

Re: If you have to answer your own threads
You tend to get more replies if your post is controversial, or as the OP says complete rubbish. For example, if I was to say Dwight McMeil is a good player and makes a big contribution to the team, it would get less replies than if I was to say he's too one footed and overrated. It's the nature of the beast, people like controversy

I make no apologies for any monologues and over 1000 viewings for Sparrowhawk Last Orders suggests that quite a few folk find a bit of hometown-spun entertainment written for free, passes the time via a bit of amusement.

Tbh Gordon I avoid your posts most of the time as I find you Very intelligent. I cant really add to the discussion. Thanks for responding to MY Post though .Gordaleman wrote: ↑Fri May 28, 2021 9:55 amAnd THAT was a perfect example of the pointless rubbish being talked about.
I notice that you haven't contributed to my YellowHeart thread. Is that because your brain can't find anything sensible to say?

Why you insist on calling me Gordon, I've no idea. It's not my name. I'm sure Tony will confirm that if you ask him.

Re: If you have to answer your own threads
You can edit your opening post. Only time to post new is to bump your thread which is usually pretty desperate. The are of course exceptions such as match day threads or threads cataloguing a lot of info...
It's essentially attention seeking. A bit like how people open a new player thread or a new thread to discuss their views of a game when they could just post in the match thread.
If you look at other boards they're managed differently. There's not a million threads on the same topic and it makes them much easier to navigate. This place at times is a real showcase of people not understanding what a message board is about. Not knowing how to search and generally lacking etiquette.

Out of interest, does the number of views of include repeated clicks by the same user? I always assumed it did. Doesn’t matter either way I’m just curious.

Re: If you have to answer your own threads
it does and while I am responsible for a lot on the MMT it is nothing like the what others who read it do - I will say that at times there is definite bot activity pushing up numbers on some threads on this board - I have witnessed it on the MMT and reported it to the administrators, but judging by the lack of response they are not bothered by it - it happened again earlier this week - added over 3000 views to the thread, seems to be a recurring monthly thing at the moment

Don’t get me wrong CP I wasn’t challenging the number of views you had on the MMT thread, I was just curious as to how the views were calculated.Chester Perry wrote: ↑Fri May 28, 2021 11:08 pmit does and while I am responsible for a lot on the MMT it is nothing like the what others who read it do - I will say that at times there is definite bot activity pushing up numbers on some threads on this board - I have witnessed it on the MMT and reported it to the administrators, but judging by the lack of response they are not bothered by it - it happened again earlier this week - added over 3000 views to the thread, seems to be a recurring monthly thing at the moment

Re: If you have to answer your own threads
Maybe the massive amount of views in comparison to the amount of replies is indicative of the content being gibberish? People like to read something and understand it.... just because someone writes in riddles and metaphor doesn’t mean those who don’t get it are thick.... imagine being sat next to someone in a bar and they lean over and spout that? You’d be on the fone to a professional....
Obviously I’m missing something, and I’ll live out my days being thankful of that.

Re: If you have to answer your own threads
I didn't see anything negative in what you were asking - I am conscious at how often I look at that thread though, it is such a repository of information now that search it regularly to help me keep track of certain themes - and I will often dredge up previous posts, to quote in new posts to tie the two together
I will say I find the bot activity distracting though, I assume it's google but I don't particularly care for it

Re: If you have to answer your own threads
I'd say answering your own threads would be the way forward for less arguing on here.
However there are some on here who could argue with their selves.
