Always saying he would only play for our Sean....

Atletico Madrid right-back Kieran Trippier, 30, has told England colleagues he is keen to join Manchester United this summer. (Mirror)

You can hardly blame a lad from Greater Manchester for wanting to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Well if Tripps does sign for Man Utd at least he'll get a good reception when they visit the turf, and quite rightly so, he's probably the player who's enjoyed the most success since leaving Burnley, and he's certainly earned a move to OT should it transpire.

Can't believe any of that.

Now, if that story had been in the Daily Wail different thing altogether.

Never said he would only play for Sean. What he did say was that he’d like to end his career at Burnley.

And given that he still looks young and fit he could still do that at 32 ish.

Bit gutted if he goes there this summer. I was holding out hope he’d see his contract out at Athletico and re-join us!

Can’t see him being first choice at United?

Morning papers reporting them as looking to move Wan-Bissaka to CB. No other RBs of any standard. Live with it, it’s happening.

The question was..... why would 'any human' choose Burnley over Man Utd.

We know you wouldn't, but there's quite a few on here who would.

Burnley fan here: Yes, on reflection, I think I'd rather play for the team who finished second in the league this season and got to a European cup final and who'd pay me 3x as much as Burnley, than play for Burnley. Being a Burnley fan doesn't mean you have to stop having a brain. (Some of our trogs would disagree, naturally). Don't understand how folk feel the need to hold Trippier (not a Burnley fan) to a higher standard of career romanticism than someone like me (an actual Burnley fan) who'd leave in a minute if the money and career opportunities were right. Bloke's practically a legend for us. Wish him nowt but success.

Kieran Trippier exclusive: "Burnley is the only club that I'd come back to England for"

Atletico Madrid right back Kieran Trippier has revealed that he wouldn't return to England for any other club but Burnley.

And the 29-year-old defender, speaking exclusively to the Burnley Express from his home in the Spanish capital, added that he hopes boss Sean Dyche will still be in charge when the time does come to make the move back.

However, if he feels the time is right at that point, he's vowed to return to these shores to see out his playing days at Turf Moor.

He said: "I would love to retire there. That's my aim, to retire at Burnley. I have a great relationship with Sean Dyche.

I want to play as high as I can for as long as I can, but I'll know when the time is right. If I'm at Atleti for another two years that'll take me to 32 and Burnley's the only club that I'd come back to England for.

"That's the way I want it to plan out. I want to play here for as long as I can and then finish playing for a manager like Sean Dyche while ending my career at Burnley. That's where I want to finish."

Come on. He tells local journalist what he wants to hear. For all we know he may just not be able to move here yet. He'd have to take a big step down in wages so it can get a few years from a big wage first I don't blame him.

Imagine what it would mean for him to have the chance to beat Manchester City after they let him go.

He's in the prime of his career and has just won the Spanish title for his team.

OK he might want to end his career at Burnley but that doesn't mean he will be coming this summer.

He could move to Man Utd and play another 4 seasons before joining the Clarets and still only be 33.

He did say the only club he'd return to England for would be Burnley under dyche.

It was a daft thing to say, but hands up is there anyone of us out there who hasn't said something there haven't meant & gone back on there word, I know I have.
