I love threads like this
Re: Favourite Beers/Breweries
Moorhouse’s Ice Witch, currently on offer in Booths for £1.35 a bottle.
Delicious and even better if you can find it on cask.

That's where I get most from.Herts Clarets wrote: ↑Wed Jun 09, 2021 8:39 amWith the exception of TT Landlord, these are all ales with a hefty ABV, hence the 1 per night comment i guess. Although very different to most of the massively hopped citrus flavoured IPAs that are prevalent, i love the Shepherd Neame India Pale Ale. Tastes of a proper old fashioned strong ale. Most if not all of there are usually in the 4 for £6 offer at Morrisons.
The Shepherd Neame ones are the same deal but at Asda.
yes one a night is plenty.
Re: Favourite Beers/Breweries
Had quite a few cases from Verdant but found them a bit samey after a while, still great beers
As mentioned Vocation is great, Life & Death my fav
For everyday drinking I love Siren Soundwave

Re: Favourite Beers/Breweries
I get a Brew by Numbers box each month which has some good stuff. Siren is also pretty reliably good.
At the moment though I'm going off the over-hopped IPAs and the like and back to decent bitters. When I used to do work trips to the US I'd spend a few weeks drinking all the heavily hopped, high percentage IPAs and the like and come back just wanting a proper pint and it feels like the UK is following that a bit.
St Austell and St Peter's are my two go-tos for a decent bitter, St Austell in particular is a bit more summery with stuff like Tribute and Proper Job. Saltaire and Bath Brewery also have some decent stuff.

I’d forgotten St Austell - I first had those a few years ago on a trip around Devon and Cornwall. Lovely pint!!aggi wrote: ↑Wed Jun 09, 2021 5:51 pmI get a Brew by Numbers box each month which has some good stuff. Siren is also pretty reliably good.

"If my next beer is Champion then a lighter beer later might be sensible. If my next beer is the Export then a heavier beer later, might give me ballast."
I'll start with the Export.
I'll start with the Export.

Can you still get McEwan's 90 shilling, that was my favourite bottled ale?
Re: Favourite Beers/Breweries
Robinson’s Dizzy Blonde draught.
Re: Favourite Beers/Breweries
Wrong strategy... Eviction notice this morning hand-delivered.
Eeeee.... Champion.
AND.. It was a result of being saintly and not going down town again for the millionth time, to see if there's any women that like men.
So I stay indoors but tormented with media assault tech on me and I had the Champion and er... As delayed in-house by economic forces and implied cell-restriction by others I engaged in drama therapy and told the demigods where they stood.

HSB used to be a fantastic pint, particularly on draught in Hampshire.SouthLondonexile wrote: ↑Thu Jun 10, 2021 8:22 pmBeing a soft southerner I really like the following :

Didn't Fullers buy the rights to brew it?

Seen it around the Northern Quarter in Manc for sureDevils_Advocate wrote: ↑Tue Jun 08, 2021 8:43 pmI found a beer in Portugal which you dont get in the tourist areas and is pretty much unheard of in the UK. It called Sagres and if youre ever in Portugal and off the beaten track I recommend giving it a try

Re: Favourite Beers/Breweries
Tend to stick to Kozel, Platan, Gambrinus and Budvar for my "cooking lager"
Pilsner is too heavy for me, There is a reason the natives call it liquid bread
There are a huge number of craft / specialist small breweries around these parts now and you could quite happily spend a week sampling them when you're allowed to come over.

I doubt it, you cant even get it in some of the more tourist bits of Portugal. You're probably thinking of San Miguel which I think is a Dutch beer that is quite popular in the UK

Maybe the owner is Portuguese and imports it in like the Miners does with BeneŽižkovClaret wrote: ↑Fri Jun 11, 2021 4:01 pmNope, definitely Sagres. Was in TV21 bar in the Northern Quarter. was a while back, mind but definitely seen it around

Nah, there's a decent tradition in Manc of slightly off-kilter Spanish / Portuguese beers.Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Fri Jun 11, 2021 4:07 pmMaybe the owner is Portuguese and imports it in like the Miners does with Bene
Big Hands by manc academy was a big Cruzcampo place, so no surprise to see Sagres pop up in the hipster leaning places as the something different forrin lager like Peroni / Grolsch used to be

Not that keen on lager to be honest. I prefer a decent beer like Sagres or that MorettiŽižkovClaret wrote: ↑Fri Jun 11, 2021 4:13 pmNah, there's a decent tradition in Manc of slightly off-kilter Spanish / Portuguese beers.

Not sure if the original comment is serious or not - But Sagres is readily available in the UK. The pub I will be watching England in on Sunday has it on draft.

Re: Favourite Beers/Breweries
As sold in the Broadsword if I remember rightly.
Re: Favourite Beers/Breweries
I would echo the above. Two more good ones are LHG and Track Brewing. I got my son in law into craft beers. When drinking at home it is part of the experience/pleasure to crack the ring pull and then smell the aromas from the can before pouring into a nice half pint/two thirds pint glass. These beers ain’t cheap but are not intended to be drunk in ten or 15 minutes like the mainstream supermarket cans. Once people appreciate the taste of these beers there is no going back!ClaretAndBlue94 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 08, 2021 4:05 pmVerdant, Pollys, DEYA , Cloudwater are always reliable.
I would reccomend a go with North or Salt that are local to me.
Had a few drinks on the Bermondsey Beer Mile this weekend and Brew By Numbers and Bianca Road Brewery are very nice. The latter seems to be a much smaller and value for money brewery.
