A link to Wade's favourite goals with us, you'll all guess the last one, but there are some other crackers in there.

Wade was a great player, and a great guy too.

The stick this guy got was unreal, whether he came too close after Glenn as the right winger ? dunno - for me one of the most under-rated players we have ever had.

Unfortunately it took Wade leaving us before some of our 'fans' saw what he brought to our side..

Always a big fan of Wade.
Said at the time he left, it was a year or two too early.

Apart from some great goals, he used to ping some brilliant crosses in.

The goals demonstrate the on field skill of our Wade. Breathtaking.

A special player for us. A damn good winger and a terrific team player. Someone who always holds our club in high regard and speaks extremely eloquently about his time with us. Legend. Yes!

Was great out wide for us. But actually liked him playing inside as well.

Great delivery on him. At his peak would get in our side now. Proper Dyche player.

Oh! for a right winger of Wade's ability now, imagine how many Woody would nod home with that type of service.

And he'll always be remembered in Clarets history for THAT strike at Wembley, who knows where we'd be now if we'd lost that day, but almost certainly not preparing for a 6th straight PL campaign anyway.

Wade was the sort of guy who'd get you off your seat at his best, and for what we paid for him he proved an absolute steal.

Over 250 appearances and 2 player of the year awards shows how highly various managers & our supporters thought of him.

Wasn’t considered to be the most likely of the Bournemouth three we signed in the summer but proved to be the best of them by a country mile. A player who worked his socks off to become as good a player as he could.

Really was an outstanding player for us and then that was that goal.

Since leaving us I can remember of a couple of receptions he got from the Burnley fans. He and Steven Caldwell came over at the end of the game at Birmingham in 2011/12 and received a superb reception despite them just having beaten us.

Then the last time we played at Bristol City he walked in front of us before the game and got another fully deserved reception.

Would he have done it in the Premier League? Who knows, he only got one season there but a terrific signing for us.

Agreed. I am proud, like you, to have been part of those special moments.

What makes being a Claret special.

One of my fave players over the years already.

... then THAT RUN, THAT GOAL ...
- that has simply changed our path ever since.

(good fella too)

Indeed. When we signed them three. I'd only really ever heard of Spicer and expected more. I think O' Connor briefly made us think we'd got ourselves a good 'un when he scored a lovely team goal early in the season. Wade just got better and better and his reliability on the wing or midfield (where he was equally comfortable) made him a key player. The others didn't live up to early expectations.

I think it’s fair to say that one of them lacked the desire, one enjoyed a drink and one had all the determination needed.

Garreth O’Connor came in and scored four or five goals early doors (remember a really nice curler away at Wolves from a free kick). I have to say though, he never really looked good enough for this level. The goals were masking a really lightweight, slow player for me - he never impressed me.

Spicer had a really good physique, tall, moved with the ball well - but again, didn’t really offer much of note. I am probably not alone in remembering almost nothing of him bar his stint in the goal at Luton.

Wade, what a player. One of the best wingers I’ve ever seen for us. His form in his first season was patchy as I recall, but from 06/07 onwards he really was a fantastic player to watch.

In total agreement regarding his crossing ability. He was able to put in a cross whilst running at full speed and the only other player I recall being able to do that for us was Leighton James; that's some company to be in.

Great player. He managed some European football with Birmingham City as well after he left us (along with a young Chris Wood)

He could cross on the run, Silky.
Out wide or those awkward ones from deep, where the keeper had no idea whether to come for not and, defenders ended up having to look behind them.
Not so much now, but he was an underestimated player.

Think the 1st time I saw him play was at the Turf in the cup for Bournemouth and he tore Mo Camara to shreds. I was delighted when we signed him.

We were having to put up with Steve Jones on the wing at the time who ran fast. Wade was just a class above, didn't need to go past the full-back to put in a cross, just bent it round. Probably the best crosser of a ball until Trips came.

As an aside, I recall, at the end of the game he rarely exchanged pleasantries with the opposition. My mate and I reckoned he had no mates in football. Wade was some player.

We have had some bloody great wingers over the years.

Could Elliot in his prime do a job in the premier league?

absolutely.

Steve Jones joined Burnley after Wade Elliott

Trying to think who Claret Toni is referring to. Can only think of four players. Chaplow, Grant, Oster and Whittingham who fit that fixture and similar description. Not sure Grant was fast and thought Chappy was quite amiable. Maybe he means Oster or Whittingham?

Just checked his Wiki page - there can't be many players that manage to make over 250 appearances for 2 clubs (Bournemouth and Burnley). And almost 800 career appearances in total - some going. He can't have had many injuries.

Coincidentally managed to spend his whole career at "B" clubs: Bashley, Bournemouth, Burnley, Birmingham City and Bristol City.
