Hope they can make a go of it. Town desperately needs somewhere people can go to start the night.

This forum all over this. Someone’s taken on a pub. At the worse ever time to take on a pub. Done a good job of it. And it draws criticism.

They’ve done a good job of making the Thornton a very popular pub. So they definitely know what they’re doing and good luck to them. Can only be good for the town and the nightlife of the town.

Absolutely

Someone with a nicely paid job.... up his own arse

The only reason I sometimes dislike my hospitality job is peoples s**tty judgemental opinions.

If you don’t like it or it’s not for you just don’t go in that’s quite simple really.

The Industry is on its knees and someone putting their heart and soul into something, creating jobs etc and people just s**t on it.

Absolutely bang on.

I read the earlier comments this morning, and didn’t get why there were so many sneering at this.

What would people prefer? The property to remain vacant and an eyesore?

I don’t know the Fernavs personally, but I went to Habergham with them. Local people trying to make a go of it, and a good nightlife in Burnley is probably very important to our local economy.

Good luck to them.

Burnley's got the tourism winning ticket because of the landscape and there's still enough left to make it better than Hebden Bridge, I've said it before.

It's only beer after all.

It's definitely still possible for smaller towns to have a decent nightlife. It's been done to death on here but first thing Burnley needs to do is stop places opening till 7am every week and get people into the habit of going out earlier again.

I know Gav reasonably well having gone to junior school with him, played football with him at that age and his mum looked after me as a nurse when I was in hospital as a kid. Nice people.

I dont go in the thornton that often at all despite it being local. But get the impression its very popular and well run.

I know they have had it very **** since March last year. Yet despite this, rather than cut their losses or focus on their existing pub theyve taken this on. Good luck to them. Brave move and hope it works out.

Reminiscent of the comments on The Turf renovation.

I assume said posters all drink bitter...

The Irish quarter is coming along nicely. Joking aside I read it is not an Irish bar but named after a grandparent.

Good luck to them, good spot to start the day/night around town or mini bus and train journeys out of town.

House prices treble in Rawtenstall? Really? So a 4/5 bedroom detached house in Ightenhill, or Worsthorne would go for over a million in Rawtenstall? Fat chance. Give your head a wobble mate.

The topography is first class and that's why it suited the cotton weaving business.

The view from Sandygate Square is superb and I think a lot of Italians came to Burnley after the war because it's more Italianate than Portmeirion and a living citadel of sorts, situated on the edge of civilization.

When Conte comes to Turf Moor, it's the far-side of Rome, as the edge of that dynasty, so a long way from home, for him.

Can't speak for Ightenhill but Worsthorne has been spolit by poor quality housing thrown up in the 70s, what must have been a lovely village as been ruined by bad planning and cheap property

Oh come on. I could have shown you the massive barn conversion right at the bottom of Ightenhill Park Lane, with the 10 bedrooms, swimming pool and cinema etc etc. Was £4.75M a few yrs ago. There’s always an odd exception to the norm. But your statement was prices in Rawtenstall are treble. That’s simply not true, and I don’t have an axe to grind, I don’t live in Burnley.
