Other than producing totally synthetic food that is the reality. In order for the whole world to become vegan we would need to establish huge mega farms everywhere producing all the plant based food. This would mean destroying even more habitats for not just animals but also all sorts of other wild life. And what about the pollinators? Different plants require different pollinators, but if every available space is devoted to producing plant based food, the opportunities for pollinators would be massively reduced. Or does insect life not matter?Lowbankclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jun 11, 2021 9:42 pmIn the same way, you think plants are ok to kill and eat. Remove whole forests to grow more plants which removes the animals you claim to support no habitat. If your so into not killing don’t kill anything and don’t eat anything. Problem solved.

Re: Meat Eating habits...
I'm not preaching to anybody I don't eat meat by choice & I understand why people like & eat meat, it's my personal decision & I accept full responsibility, sometimes in situations like this a wrong way & a right way doesn't exist, people need to do whatever they are comfortable with.Lowbankclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jun 11, 2021 9:42 pmIn the same way, you think plants are ok to kill and eat. That's the One...seen so many young animals arriving after transit for miles in cramped conditions....an hour later Venito !! I think in 20 years time there'll be a massive shift in people's Eating Habits favouring plant base options..etcconyoviejo wrote: ↑Fri Jun 11, 2021 7:25 pmGo and stand downwind outside Borthwicks, you'll never eat meat again.

Does the Queen approve of such things?
Re: Meat Eating habits...
All the worry about animals suffering seems a bit overdone, when you consider that virtually every animal that dies outside human captivity has a worse death than virtually every animal in human captivity. Usually either starvation, when they can't catch and/or digest their food, or being eaten alive by another animal with far less scruples than we have.

Re: Meat Eating habits...
It's a good factual point but I'm not entirely sure them reasons will come into the equation when people are deciding whether to eat meat or not, I used to eat meat but it wasn't necessarily down to any animals suffering why I decided to stop, the human body doesn't need to eat meat to survive & the taste wasn't enough to resist change, I think when you decide to give up meat you are effectively becoming healthier & you are replacing the meat with different substitutes loaded with vitamins & nutrients, the brain & cognitive functioning becomes sharper & more focused, you are hard wired differently from carnivores upstairs.dsr wrote: ↑Sat Jun 12, 2021 12:25 amAll the worry about animals suffering seems a bit overdone, when you consider that virtually every animal that dies outside human captivity has a worse death than virtually every animal in human captivity. Re: Meat Eating habits...
I’ve had the new attempts and agree that they are getting better but mostly the texture is off. Last month I bought
a pound of something called IncogMEATo (terrible name) and made a bolognese with it. It was very good but the stench just lingered and lingered for days. This is the problem with the proteins and extracts they are adding to “pretend” it’s meat.
Last week I had some soy spicy chicken ‘nuggets’ called Simulate and they were excellent! A bit 80s soy but really good. But I also had the plain ones and they weren’t good. So presumably the spice covers that up.
I find it interesting that using words like Simulate and incogmeato implies they’re aiming at the market of “let’s pretend it’s just like meat, meat eaters!” Whereas a better strategy (imho) would just be “hey! Not as tasty as cow but your Omega 3s and 6s will go through the roof and your heart will send you Valentines”.

I don't get the plant based alternatives. There's so much tasty vegetarian food and great recipes, why get a rubbish version of meat!? Why people eat facon, plant based sausages and nuggets etc us a total mystery to me.

Re: Meat Eating habits...
Agreed it's one or the other was my thinking..but the food I've been served / recommended has been by a vegan.Ive never been a "Greggs" person But their sausage rolls are my preferred Choice. So I Fancy a Tesco vegan Hot Dog they're Excellent also along with all the relish etc. I'm not Vegan but that market is getting bigger and Bigger.any investors in that market if there is one will eventually see a good return I'm sure..willsclarets wrote: ↑Sat Jun 12, 2021 7:23 amI don't get the plant based alternatives. I'm 63 and and have been vegan for 18 months. I'd definitely recommend it. Healthier, fitter, feel great and expect to live longer, but each to their own so moving on....

I know what you mean, I'm not sure any direction of wind is the difference if you are right, asda must be downwind I permanently smell the stench of woodheads when I visit reminds me of rotting brussel sprouts.conyoviejo wrote: ↑Fri Jun 11, 2021 7:25 pmGo and stand downwind outside Borthwicks, you'll never eat meat again.
