Very good that TheFamilyCat. Don’t think I saw Cummings play. I assumed it was what is now the Bob Lord stand in the background, that took me back to my first game standing on that terracing, wonderful memories as a child at the Turf. I remember watching Hancock but unfortunately can’t remember much about him.

He tore us to shreds for the game he played for Stockport County on the Turf if my memory serves me but that was it. Think we paid £100k for him. Never sure how we managed to recoup some if not all of that off PNE as my memory after his performance against us was one of a pretty pedestrian player. I think he was only with us a few months too.
But TC was a different class altogether until his bad knee injury and even after that he played his way back into the first 11 on a pretty regular basis

"" Hancock's Half Hour "" was a phrase that probably reflected the amount of time he actually performed well for us.

Yes, that performance for Stockport was his best at the Turf by a long way! I remember being quite excited by his arrival based on that game. I remember him being with us for a season at least although he was soon warming the bench, don’t think he ever scored for us, certainly in the league.

He tore us to shredscwas a reflection of just how poor we could be as opposed to his footballing genius.
That said I think he would make a better job of being health secretary then his namesake.

We spent a lot on Hancock relative to where we were. Looked like we had signed an exciting player for once. What an anti climax.
